Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Wallet On Chain (WOC)?
A: It’s compact yet practical. Expect room for a large smartphone (including most Pro/Max models), keys, lipstick, AirPods, and small essentials using the built‑in card slots instead of a bulky wallet. A passport usually fits. Continental (long) wallets, small water bottles and thicker pouches generally do not. Please refer to the Measurements on this page (approx. 20 × 12 × 4 cm) or ask us for a tailored fit check for this exact piece.

Q: Will my iPhone Pro/Max fit?
A: Most Pro/Max phones fit horizontally; very thick or rugged cases can make the fit snug. Compare your phone’s dimensions with the Measurements provided, or ask us to test it against this specific bag before purchase.

Q: Is the chain strap adjustable or removable? Can I wear it crossbody?
A: The WOC chain is not adjustable and is generally not designed to be removed. It can be worn on the shoulder or crossbody. This piece lists an approximate 60 cm strap drop. Some owners shorten the drop by tucking part of the chain inside the bag; if you do, avoid overstuffing and protect the leather to prevent pressure marks.

Q: How secure is the closure and what pockets does it have?
A: The WOC features a flap with a press‑stud (snap) closure, providing good day‑to‑day security. Inside, this piece has a main compartment, an interior zipped pocket and multiple card slots, as shown in our photos. For valuables during commuting, use the zipped pocket and keep the bag upright.

Q: What materials and hardware does this piece have, and where is it made?
A: This listing specifies black quilted patent leather with silver‑tone hardware, an interwoven chain‑and‑leather shoulder strap, and a black leather and fabric lining. The interior is stamped Made in France. Our photos show the exact finish and details of this item.

Q: How should I care for Chanel patent leather?
A: Keep patent leather away from moisture, heat and prolonged sunlight, and be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim and other dyes. Wipe gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; avoid solvents, alcohol‑based cleaners or heavy conditioners (they’re not suitable for patent’s coated finish). Store the bag lightly stuffed, upright, in a breathable dust bag, with a soft cloth placed between the chain and the leather to minimise imprints.

Q: Can patent leather become sticky or show colour migration?
A: Patent can sometimes develop tackiness or absorb dye transfer if exposed to heat, humidity or contact with strongly dyed materials. Minimise risk by storing in a cool, dry place, avoiding plastic sleeves, and keeping it away from dark textiles (especially denim). If mild tackiness occurs, gently wipe with a clean, dry microfibre cloth and allow to air in a shaded area; for anything persistent, consult a luxury leather specialist.

Q: Will the chain leave marks on the flap?
A: Chain imprints can occur if the strap presses against the patent leather during storage. To minimise marks, tuck the chain inside with a protective felt or soft cloth, avoid overstuffing, and store the bag upright and lightly padded to maintain its shape.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes located, and how is dating handled?
A: Authentic Chanel bags feature interior brand and country stamps. Older models include a hologram serial sticker and an authenticity card; from around 2021 Chanel transitioned to embedded microchips. Placement and format vary by era. This piece includes an authenticity card and a serial number sticker, as listed. We’re happy to share close‑up photos and help interpret the code for dating guidance.

Q: What accessories are included and how do you authenticate?
A: Included items are listed under “Accessories.” For this piece, we note an authenticity card and a serial number sticker. Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, serial sticker/microchip and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell.

Q: Is the Chanel WOC still produced, and what about the “Brilliant CC” patent variant?
A: Chanel’s Wallet On Chain is a longstanding style with details that can vary by season. Specific variants like “Brilliant CC” in patent leather are typically seasonal and may be discontinued. The pre‑loved market is the best way to find exact configurations like this black quilted patent version.
