ChanelCC Picnic Wicker Basket Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel CC Picnic Wicker Basket Bag?
A: This is a compact basket-style bag measuring approximately 15 × 15 × 9 cm, so it is best suited to small essentials such as cards, keys, lipstick and other compact daily items. Some small phones may fit, but larger phones or a full-size wallet may be too bulky. Please use the measurements on this page as your main guide.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: It is better suited to shoulder carry. This piece features a single chain-link shoulder strap, and the listed strap measurement is approximately 39 cm, so it is not generally considered a crossbody style.

Q: Is this bag vintage?
A: Yes. This piece is sold as a vintage Chanel bag. Its 5-series serial format is commonly associated with late-1990s Chanel production, which aligns with similar Chanel wicker picnic basket examples seen on the vintage market.

Q: How should I care for the wicker and leather?
A: Handle it gently and avoid overfilling, direct sunlight, humidity, perfume and harsh cleaning products. For light surface dust, use a soft dry cloth. If it gets damp, pat it dry carefully rather than rubbing. Because wicker and leather can both show age and wear, gentle use and careful storage are especially important.

Q: How should I store it when not in use?
A: Store the bag upright in a pouch or dust bag in a cool, dry place. Lightly stuffing it with tissue paper can help maintain the shape, and keeping the chain neatly tucked or wrapped can help prevent marking the leather lining.

Q: What condition is this item in?
A: The overall condition is good. The exterior shows light traces of use, the interior is very good with light traces of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches.

Q: What is included with the bag?
A: According to the product information, this item includes the serial number. If an authenticity card, box or dust bag is not shown in the product information, it should not be considered included.

Q: How is a vintage Chanel bag like this authenticated?
A: Serial numbers are only one part of the process. A proper authentication also considers materials, construction, hardware, lining, stamps and overall workmanship. Every item at A Retro Tale is vetted before sale.

Q: Where was this bag made?
A: The product data states that this piece was made in Italy.
