ChanelCC Wild Stitch Tote Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel CC Wild Stitch Tote Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 23 x 22 x 7 cm, it is best suited to daily essentials such as a phone, long wallet, keys, sunglasses and a small cosmetics pouch. It can also hold slim extras like a notebook or compact tablet, but it is not a laptop-sized tote. Please use the Measurements on this page as the final guide.

Q: Can this tote be carried on the shoulder?
A: Yes, the dual handles have an approximate drop of 16 cm, so it can usually be carried by hand, in the crook of the arm, or on the shoulder depending on your frame and outerwear. If you prefer a roomier shoulder fit over heavier layers, compare the handle drop with a bag you already own.

Q: What is special about the Wild Stitch design?
A: The Wild Stitch line is known for its oversized quilted stitch pattern and bold front CC detail, giving it a softer and more relaxed look than Chanel’s classic flap styles. This piece is finished in black leather with gold-tone hardware and a tonal interior.

Q: What pockets and interior features does it have?
A: According to the product information, the bag has a tonal lining with one internal zip pocket. This is useful for keeping smaller essentials separate from the main compartment.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed in the product information. This piece comes with an authenticity card and serial number, which is especially desirable for vintage Chanel buyers.

Q: How old is this bag?
A: The serial number on this piece is 7832228. Chanel bags with 7-digit serials are generally from the earlier sticker era, and a 7-series number is typically associated with the early 2000s, around 2002 to 2003.

Q: What condition details should I be aware of?
A: The exterior is noted as good, with scuffing and discolouration on the corners plus some marks and scratches. The interior is very good with light traces of use and minor marks on the leather trim, while the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. This is consistent with a well-kept vintage bag rather than a like-new piece.

Q: Is corner wear common on this style?
A: Yes, corner rubbing and occasional fraying around the stitched areas are among the most commonly discussed wear points on Wild Stitch and Diamond Stitch totes. This style’s soft leather and prominent stitching give it great character, but they can also show age more visibly than firmer, heavily grained leathers.

Q: How should I care for this vintage Chanel tote?
A: Avoid overfilling it, keep it away from prolonged sunlight, moisture and friction, and wipe it gently with a soft cloth. When not in use, store it upright in a pouch or dust bag, ideally lightly stuffed to help maintain its shape. As with most vintage Chanel leather bags, gentle handling will help preserve the finish and stitching.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: At A Retro Tale, pre-owned luxury items are checked using a multi-point process that considers details such as construction, leather, stitching, hardware, branding and serial information. The included authenticity card and serial number are helpful supporting details, but they are only one part of the overall authentication assessment.
