Q: What are the measurements and what typically fits inside?
A: The bag measures approximately 34 × 23 × 10 cm. It comfortably holds A4 documents or a large tablet, a long wallet, phone, keys, and a slim cosmetics pouch. To preserve the shape, we recommend avoiding overfilling or carrying bulky items. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Can I wear the Maxi Single Flap crossbody as well as on the shoulder?
A: Yes, the woven chain-and-leather strap can be worn doubled or long. The drop is approximately 33 cm when doubled and approximately 62 cm when worn long, allowing shoulder wear and, for many, a short crossbody depending on height and build.

Q: Is this the single flap version, and how does it differ from the double flap?
A: Yes, this is a single flap Maxi. Compared with a double flap, single flaps are typically lighter and offer a bit more interior space, while double flaps add extra structure and security. Chanel discontinued classic single flaps in the mid‑2010s; they are now found on the vintage market.

Q: What does the serial number 3373056 indicate?
A: This is a 3‑series serial number, which corresponds to production circa 1994–1996. Serial numbers indicate a period of manufacture rather than an exact month or model variant.

Q: Is the gold‑tone hardware real gold plated?
A: Chanel used 24‑carat gold plating on most gold‑tone hardware until around 2008. Given this bag’s 3‑series era, the hardware is typically 24k gold‑plated over base metal. Light hairline scratches are normal on vintage hardware.

Q: What compartments does this bag have?
A: It features an external slip pocket and a burgundy leather interior with one zipped pocket and one slip pocket for small essentials, secured by the CC turn‑lock closure.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under product information. For this piece, a serial number tag is included. If an item such as a dust bag or authenticity card is not shown there, it is not included.

Q: How do you authenticate this Chanel bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes a rigorous multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, quilting, stitching, stamps, hardware, and serial details. We guarantee the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional photos or details on request.

Q: How should I care for vintage lambskin?
A: Handle with clean hands, avoid rain and oils, and keep away from dark denim or abrasive surfaces to prevent colour transfer and scuffs. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth; avoid household cleaners. Store in a breathable dust bag, loosely stuffed with acid‑free tissue, with the chain tucked inside to prevent imprints. Do not overfill, and consider a felt organiser for support. A professional bag spa can address deeper conditioning if needed.

Q: Will a 13‑inch laptop fit?
A: A slim 13‑inch device may slide inside due to the width and height, but we do not recommend carrying a laptop regularly in a vintage lambskin flap as the weight and pressure can strain the flap and structure. If you do, use a thin protective sleeve and avoid overloading the bag.
