ChanelLambskin CC Camera Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Lambskin CC Camera Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 27 x 19 x 8 cm, this bag is best suited to everyday essentials such as a phone, compact wallet, keys, sunglasses, a small pouch, and a few beauty items. It is spacious for a camera-bag style, but it is not intended for larger items such as a tablet or laptop. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: This piece has a single interwoven chain and leather strap with an approximately 47 cm drop. For most people, that length is best worn on the shoulder rather than crossbody. Depending on height and styling preference, some may find it sits as a shorter crossbody, but it is not an adjustable strap.

Q: Is lambskin leather delicate?
A: Yes. Chanel lambskin is loved for its soft, supple feel and elegant finish, but it is more delicate than grained leathers and can show scratches, rubbing, and corner wear more easily. This makes it beautiful and luxurious, but it also benefits from gentle handling and careful storage.

Q: How should I care for this vintage lambskin bag?
A: Handle it with clean, dry hands and avoid overfilling, rain, rough surfaces, and dark fabrics that may cause colour transfer. For light surface marks, use only a very soft cloth and store the bag carefully when not in use. Avoid harsh cleaners or heavy conditioning products unless advised by a leather specialist, as vintage lambskin can be sensitive.

Q: What does the serial number beginning with 1 mean?
A: A Chanel serial number starting with 1 indicates production from the early vintage period, generally dating this bag to around 1989 to 1991. That aligns with the serial-era information listed for this piece and is one of the helpful indicators used when assessing vintage Chanel bags.

Q: What kind of interior and closure does this bag have?
A: This bag features a top zip closure, black leather lining, and one internal zipped pocket. That combination makes it practical for organising smaller essentials while keeping the overall silhouette slim and easy to carry.

Q: What condition should I expect from this specific item?
A: This example is listed in good condition. The exterior shows visible scuffing and rubbing on the corners, edges, piping, and interwoven leather strap, while the interior has light traces of use. The hardware remains shiny with light scratches. As with most vintage lambskin bags, these signs of wear are consistent with age and previous use.

Q: Is this a good everyday vintage Chanel bag?
A: Yes, if you want a compact-to-medium vintage Chanel that is easy to carry and practical for daily essentials. Camera bags are often favoured for their secure zip-top design and hands-free wear. That said, because this one is lambskin and already shows some rubbing and scuffing, it is best suited to careful everyday use rather than heavy-duty wear.

Q: What is included with this item, and how is authenticity checked?
A: This piece includes the serial number noted in the product information. Everything included with the bag is listed in the product information section; if an authenticity card, box, or dust bag is not listed there, it is not included. At A Retro Tale, vintage designer items are vetted for authenticity using construction details such as materials, hardware, stamps, and serial-era consistency.
