Georg JensenHeritage Necklace

Q: What is the Georg Jensen Heritage collection?
A: Heritage is an annual Georg Jensen series that revisits archive, nature‑inspired motifs from the early 1900s. Pieces are crafted in sterling silver, often with a cabochon gemstone, giving a timeless, vintage look.

Q: What materials and finish does this necklace have?
A: It is made from oxidised sterling silver (925) with a cabochon moonstone in a warm orange tone. The darker shading in the crevices is intentional and highlights the design’s details.

Q: How large is the pendant and how long is the chain?
A: The pendant measures approximately 3 × 3 cm and the chain measures about 44 cm in perimeter, which typically sits near the collarbone on most wearers. Please see the Measurements on this page for confirmation.

Q: Can the length be adjusted or can I wear the pendant on a different chain?
A: Yes. If you prefer a different drop, a jeweller can add an extender or shorten the chain. The pendant can also be moved onto another suitable sterling‑silver chain to suit your style.

Q: How secure is the clasp?
A: This piece uses a toggle clasp. When the T‑bar passes fully through the ring and the chain is appropriately sized, toggles are designed to be secure and easy to fasten. If you prefer a different fastening, a jeweller can swap it for a lobster clasp.

Q: How should I care for oxidised silver and the moonstone?
A: Wipe the silver gently with a soft, non‑abrasive polishing cloth and avoid silver‑dip solutions, which can strip the intentional oxidation. Clean the gemstone with lukewarm water, a little mild soap and a soft brush, then pat dry. Avoid ultrasonic or steam cleaners, as well as perfumes and harsh chemicals. Store the necklace separately in its box when not in use.

Q: Will polishing remove the darkened areas?
A: Over‑polishing can lighten or remove the oxidised finish on raised surfaces. Clean sparingly and avoid abrasive products to preserve the contrast.

Q: How can I be sure this is an authentic Georg Jensen piece?
A: Authentic Georg Jensen jewellery typically carries the maker’s mark, a silver purity stamp such as 925 S, and Denmark/assay marks; many Heritage pendants also bear a year mark. Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully authenticated by our experts—contact us if you would like close‑ups of the hallmarks.

Q: What is included and what is the condition?
A: This necklace comes with a box. It is in very good vintage condition with light signs of wear as noted under Condition.
