HermèsEtoupe Kelly Messenger GM Togo Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Hermès Kelly Messenger GM?
A: With approximate measurements of 32 × 28 × 9.5 cm, this GM size is suited to daily essentials plus larger items such as a long wallet, phone, sunglasses, notebook, a small toiletry pouch, and a tablet. It is a practical day bag rather than a compact evening style, but we always recommend comparing your own items to the measurements on this page for the best guide.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: Yes. The Kelly Messenger is designed to be worn on the shoulder or across the body, and this piece has an adjustable flat shoulder strap. The listed strap measurement for this item is 56 cm.

Q: Is Togo leather durable for everyday use?
A: Yes. Togo is one of Hermès’s most popular grained calf leathers because it offers a good balance of softness, structure, and durability. It generally handles light scratches better than smoother leathers and develops a softer feel over time.

Q: What colour is Etoupe?
A: Etoupe is one of Hermès’s best-known neutral shades. It is typically perceived as a taupe-brown or greige tone, and this listing categorises the bag under brown.

Q: How secure is the closure?
A: This bag features the signature Kelly-style turn-lock closure, which gives the front a polished look and keeps contents more secure than an open-top design. As with many structured flap bags, it is slightly less quick to access than a simple zip-top tote.

Q: What condition is this bag in?
A: This vintage piece is listed in very good condition overall. The exterior and interior both show light traces of use, while the silver-tone hardware remains shiny with light scratches.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This bag comes with padlock, keys, and clochette. Everything included with this piece is reflected in the product information.

Q: How should I care for this vintage Hermès bag?
A: To preserve the leather and shape, store it in a cool, dry place, keep it lightly stuffed when not in use, and wipe it gently with a soft cloth. Avoid overfilling, harsh cleaning products, and prolonged exposure to heat or moisture. To minimise marks, take care that the hardware does not rub repeatedly against the leather.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item sold by A Retro Tale is authenticated by in-house experts as part of a two-step screening process. If you would like extra reassurance, independent third-party authenticity certificates are also available to order separately.
