Louis VuittonMahina XL Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Mahina XL Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 45 x 28 x 16 cm, this is a roomy oversized bag that generally fits everyday essentials with ease, including a long wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses case, cosmetic pouch, notebook and a small water bottle. Its soft shape also makes it practical when you need to carry a little extra.

Q: Can this bag be carried on the shoulder?
A: Yes. The dual handles have an approximate drop of 24 cm, which usually allows comfortable shoulder carry for many people. There is no separate strap listed in the product information, so this bag is designed to be carried by its built-in handles.

Q: Is Mahina leather durable?
A: Mahina leather is known for being soft, supple calf leather with the Monogram perforated into the surface. It is luxurious and can wear well, but like most soft leather bags it should still be treated with care, especially in a light neutral shade, as rubbing, corner wear and colour transfer can show more easily than on coated canvas styles.

Q: Is the XL size practical for everyday use?
A: If you prefer large, slouchy bags, yes. The XL is one of the roomier Mahina sizes and is well suited to daily use when you like to carry more than just the basics. Because of its generous size, it can feel more substantial once fully packed.

Q: How secure is the closure?
A: This bag features a push-lock closure, which offers more security than a completely open tote while keeping the relaxed silhouette of the design. The interior is lined in black microfiber.

Q: How should I care for this bag?
A: Keep it away from prolonged direct sunlight, heat, rough surfaces, perfumes and heavily dyed materials. If the surface gets lightly marked, wipe it very gently with a soft, light-coloured cloth, and if it gets wet, blot it dry straight away. Avoid soap, solvents and overfilling, and store it loosely stuffed in a breathable cloth bag when not in use to help maintain its shape.

Q: Should I be careful about colour transfer?
A: Yes. As with most light-coloured leather bags, dark denim and other heavily dyed fabrics can sometimes transfer colour onto the surface. Taking a little extra care with what the bag rubs against will help preserve its finish.

Q: What condition is this specific bag in?
A: This item is described as being in Very Good condition, with light traces of use to the exterior and interior. The hardware remains shiny with light scratches. As a vintage, pre-owned piece, gentle signs of wear are part of its character.

Q: What does the date code SP4160 mean?
A: Louis Vuitton date codes from this period use two letters for the factory and four digits for the production timing. SP indicates production in France, and 4160 corresponds to the 46th week of 2010.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This specific bag is listed with no additional inclusions. Please refer to the product information for exactly what accompanies the item; if something is not listed there, it is not included.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is inspected by experts using a combination of checks such as materials, construction, hardware, stamps and date-code format. The date code is useful for production information, but it is only one part of the overall authentication process.
