Louis VuittonMonogram Petit Sac Plat Bag

Q: What fits inside the Louis Vuitton Petit Sac Plat?
A: This miniature tote is designed to hold just the essentials. It typically accommodates a large smartphone (placed vertically), a cardholder or compact wallet, keys, and a lipstick. Due to its slim 5 cm depth and open-top design, bulky items like sunglasses cases or water bottles generally do not fit. Please refer to the Measurements on this page (Height: 17 cm, Width: 14 cm, Depth: 5 cm) to gauge if your specific items will fit.

Q: Will my smartphone fit?
A: Yes, the Petit Sac Plat is sized to fit most modern smartphones, including larger Pro/Max models, when placed upright. If you use a very thick or rugged case, we recommend comparing your phone’s dimensions with the bag’s measurements or contacting us for a quick fit check.

Q: Is the strap adjustable or removable?
A: The flat leather shoulder strap is detachable, allowing you to carry the bag by the top handles as a mini tote. It is generally not adjustable. We list the strap measurement for this specific piece as 80 cm—please note this length to determine if it suits your preferred carrying style (shoulder vs. crossbody).

Q: How secure is the bag?
A: The Petit Sac Plat features an open-top design without a zipper or magnetic closure. While deep enough to keep a phone and wallet relatively contained during upright wear, we recommend using a small pouch for loose valuables and keeping the bag upright/secure during travel.

Q: What materials are used?
A: This model is crafted from Louis Vuitton’s durable Monogram coated canvas with natural Vachetta cowhide leather trim and handles. It features a brown textile lining and gold-tone hardware. The Vachetta leather is untreated and will develop a honey-coloured patina over time, which is a characteristic of authentic LV bags.

Q: How do I care for the Vachetta leather?
A: Vachetta leather is sensitive to water, oils, and sunlight. Water can leave permanent spots, and oils from hands can darken the handles. We recommend keeping the leather dry and avoiding direct contact with hand creams or moisturisers. If it gets wet, blot immediately with a pale, lint-free cloth—do not rub. Over time, the leather will naturally darken; this patina is normal and desired by many collectors.

Q: Where is the date code located?
A: Authentic Louis Vuitton bags produced before March 2021 typically feature a date code indicating the manufacturing details. For this specific item, the date code SP5200 indicates it was made in France in the 20th week of 2020. You can find this code stamped inside the bag, often near a seam or on a leather tab.

Q: How do you authenticate this item?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in-house experts using multi-point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, date codes, and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional details on request.

Q: What accessories are included?
A: Included items are listed under the “Accessories” section on this page. For this specific bag, a detachable shoulder strap is included. If items like a box or dust bag are not listed there, they are not included.
