Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Monogram Saumur 30?
A: With measurements of approximately 30 x 20 x 10 cm, it is a practical everyday size. It will comfortably hold essentials such as a phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses, a small cosmetics pouch, and a compact notebook. The dual-compartment design also helps keep items organised. It is not a laptop-sized bag.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: Yes. The Saumur 30 is designed with a single adjustable shoulder strap and is typically worn either on the shoulder or crossbody, depending on your height and preferred fit.

Q: How is the interior organised?
A: This style is known for its two separate compartments with buckle closures, which makes it easy to divide your daily essentials. This specific bag also has one internal pocket for smaller items.

Q: Is the Saumur 30 secure and easy to access?
A: The buckle closures make the bag feel secure, which many people appreciate for daily use or travel. The trade-off is that it is a little slower to open than a zip-top bag, so it suits those who do not mind a more classic opening style.

Q: Is the patina on the leather normal?
A: Yes. Louis Vuitton’s natural cowhide trim develops a deeper honey-to-tan patina over time, and vintage pieces often show watermarks and light scuffing. This bag is listed in Very Good condition, with visible patina, minor watermarks, and light signs of use consistent with age.

Q: What does the date code 882 .V.I. mean?
A: This vintage Louis Vuitton production code indicates that the bag was made in France in February 1988. On older Louis Vuitton pieces, the code helps date the item, but it is only one part of the overall authentication process.

Q: What is included with this bag?
A: This item is sold with no additional items included. If a box, dust bag, luggage tag, padlock, or any other extras are not stated in the product information, they are not included with the sale.

Q: How should I care for this vintage Monogram canvas bag?
A: Avoid rain, prolonged sunlight, heat, perfume, and alcohol-based products near the leather trim. Clean the canvas gently with a soft, light-coloured cloth, and avoid harsh cleaners on the natural cowhide leather. When not in use, store it lightly stuffed in a breathable bag to help maintain its shape.

Q: How do you authenticate this Louis Vuitton bag?
A: At A Retro Tale, vintage Louis Vuitton pieces are reviewed by experts using a combination of construction details, materials, hardware, branding, and production-code checks. The date code supports the assessment, but authenticity is never judged on the code alone.
