CartierAmulette Malachite Necklace

Q: Is this Cartier Amulette de Cartier Malachite Necklace authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid gold or plated?
A: This necklace is crafted in solid 18‑carat (18k) yellow gold with a natural malachite disc motif and a single brilliant‑cut diamond. It is fine jewellery—not plated fashion metal.

Q: What are the measurements and how will it sit when worn?
A: The pendant measures approximately 1.2 cm (H) x 1.2 cm (W) x 0.2 cm (D), and the chain measures about 40 cm in perimeter. On most wearers, 40 cm sits around the base of the neck/collarbone for a refined, everyday drop. If you’d like the exact drop length on model or gram weight, contact us and we’ll provide it.

Q: How does it fasten? Is the clasp secure?
A: It features a lobster clasp closure on a fine chain, providing a secure, easy‑to‑use fastening. Always ensure the clasp is fully closed before wear; a jeweller can add an extender or safety jump ring if you prefer extra security.

Q: Which model/size is this? Does the chain adjust?
A: With a 12 mm motif and a 40 cm chain, this corresponds to Cartier’s XS‑scale Amulette dimensions (XS models typically have a 12 mm motif and are often supplied with an adjustable chain around 38–41 cm). This specific piece is noted at 40 cm; a professional can add a short extender on request if you’d like more versatility.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect on Cartier fine jewellery?
A: Authentic Cartier pieces usually bear the CARTIER signature, a gold fineness mark such as “750” for 18‑carat gold, and often an individual serial/identification number. Placement can vary (e.g., on the pendant rim or clasp tag). Our close‑up photos show any stamps present.

Q: Is malachite durable for daily wear? Will the pattern vary?
A: Malachite is cherished for its natural banded patterns—each stone is unique—so slight colour/banding variation from photos is normal. As a softer gemstone (around 3.5–4 on the Mohs scale), it can scratch or chip if knocked. We recommend mindful, occasional wear and storing it separately to avoid abrasion.

Q: How should I care for malachite and 18k yellow gold?
A: Keep the necklace dry and away from perfume, lotions, hairspray and hand sanitiser. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak, and avoid ultrasonic or steam cleaners and chemical dips—malachite is sensitive to moisture, heat and acids. Store individually in a pouch/box, out of direct sunlight.

Q: Can I shower, swim, exercise or sleep in it?
A: We advise removing the necklace before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping. Moisture, sweat and impact can stress fine chains and may dull or damage malachite over time.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: 18‑carat yellow gold alloys are generally well‑tolerated and typically contain little to no nickel; however, sensitivities vary by individual. If you have known allergies, monitor comfort and discontinue wear if irritation occurs—contact us for guidance.

Q: Can Cartier service, polish, or adjust the chain?
A: Cartier offers professional jewellery care (cleaning, polishing, inspections and certain adjustments) via their boutiques and authorised service network. A competent jeweller can also add a short extender or replace a clasp if needed. Note that modifications may affect originality and resale value.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This piece is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. It is delivered with no accessories unless specifically shown or stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
