ChanelClassic Caviar Medium Double Flap Bag

Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel Classic Caviar Medium Double Flap Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 26 x 16 x 7 cm, it is a practical day-to-evening size. It will typically fit a phone, compact wallet, keys, sunglasses, lipstick and a few smaller essentials. The double-flap interior adds organisation, although the inner flap does reduce usable space slightly compared with more open bag styles.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: This style is usually best worn on the shoulder. On some petite frames a medium Classic Flap can sit longer, but with the listed strap drop of around 25 cm, this particular piece is best considered a shoulder bag rather than a true crossbody style.

Q: What does double flap mean?
A: A double-flap Chanel has the signature front flap plus a second inner flap inside. This gives the bag added structure and security, while also offering the classic internal pockets and compartments collectors look for in this model.

Q: Is caviar leather a good choice for everyday use?
A: Yes. Chanel caviar leather is known for its textured grain, which is generally more resistant to visible scratches than smoother leathers and helps the bag hold its shape well. Even so, it is still leather and should be handled with care.

Q: What does the serial number tell me?
A: This bag has serial number 11183259. Chanel serial stickers from this period are eight digits long, and an 11-series code is generally associated with production in the mid-2000s, roughly 2006 to 2008. As with all Chanel bags, the serial number is only one part of authentication and should be considered alongside the bag’s overall construction and details.

Q: Is this bag vintage?
A: Yes, this piece is sold as a vintage Chanel bag. Its serial range and classic construction place it in an earlier production period rather than the later microchip era.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: The listed inclusion is the serial number. If an authenticity card, box or dust bag is not mentioned in the product information, it should be assumed not to be included.

Q: What is the condition of this bag?
A: The bag is in good condition overall, with light traces of use externally and internally. The hardware remains shiny with light surface scratches, which is consistent with careful vintage wear.

Q: How should I care for and store it?
A: Store it upright in a pouch or dust bag, lightly stuffed to help maintain its shape, and avoid overfilling it. Keep it away from prolonged sunlight, humidity and friction, and wipe it gently with a soft cloth when needed. If it gets wet, dab it dry carefully rather than rubbing.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: A Retro Tale carefully vets all items before sale using multi-point checks such as leather, stitching, hardware, construction details and serial markings. If you would like extra reassurance before purchasing, you can always contact the team for additional product information.
