ChanelDenim Straight Flap Bag

Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel Denim Straight Flap Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 21 × 16 × 7 cm, this bag is best for daily essentials such as a phone, cardholder, keys, lipstick, and a few small items. It is not likely to suit bulkier items such as a long wallet, tablet, or water bottle. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for the most accurate guide.

Q: Can this bag be worn on the shoulder or crossbody?
A: The strap drop is approximately 55 cm, so it is well suited to shoulder wear and may work as a longer carry on some frames. Whether it sits comfortably crossbody will depend on your height and proportions, so we recommend comparing the strap measurement with a bag you already own.

Q: What materials and details does this bag feature?
A: This bag is crafted in blue denim canvas with gold-tone hardware. It features an interwoven chain and denim shoulder strap, black leather lining, one internal zip pocket, and a CC turn-lock closure.

Q: What condition is this vintage bag in?
A: It is listed in very good condition overall. The exterior shows wear on the corners, the interior has light traces of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches.

Q: Is this bag vintage, and where was it made?
A: Yes, this piece is described as vintage. The country of origin label states France.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: The product information notes a serial number only. No authenticity card, box, or dust bag is listed, so these should not be assumed to be included unless confirmed separately.

Q: The serial number is illegible. Is that unusual for a vintage Chanel bag?
A: Not necessarily. On older Chanel bags, serial stickers can fade or become difficult to read over time. An illegible number can occur on vintage pieces, so authenticity is best assessed through the full set of construction details rather than the sticker alone.

Q: How should I care for a vintage denim Chanel flap bag?
A: Store it upright, lightly stuffed, and away from direct sunlight, humidity, and prolonged pressure. Avoid overfilling the bag, and take care with dark or light clothing to reduce the risk of colour transfer. For cleaning, use only very gentle care methods suitable for luxury denim and leather trims, or consult a professional specialist.

Q: Is denim more delicate than leather for regular use?
A: Denim offers a more relaxed and casual look, but it can show rubbing, corner wear, and colour transfer more easily than some leathers. As this piece already has corner wear, gentle handling and thoughtful storage will help preserve its condition.

Q: How is authenticity assessed for a pre-owned Chanel bag like this one?
A: At A Retro Tale, pre-owned Chanel pieces are evaluated through multiple details such as materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, lining, and serial elements. For a vintage item with an illegible serial number, the overall craftsmanship and consistency of the bag become especially important.
