HermèsCheval Horse Bracelet

Q: Is this Hermès Cheval Horse Bracelet authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it real gold?
A: This vintage Hermès bracelet is described as gold‑tone metal and is considered fashion jewellery rather than solid gold. Many vintage horse‑head (Cheval/Galop) models were produced in gilt metal, while rarer fine‑jewellery versions exist in solid 18‑carat gold. If you’d like us to confirm any aspect of the composition for this exact piece, please contact us and we’ll check the stamps and materials for you.

Q: What are the size and measurements? Will it fit my wrist?
A: The wearable perimeter is listed at approximately 19 cm, with an open‑cuff design. The bracelet width is about 1.2 cm and the depth around 1.5 cm. For best fit, measure your wrist snugly and compare to the 19 cm perimeter; we’re happy to provide the inner diameter and gap measurement or fit guidance on request.

Q: Is it adjustable or can it be resized?
A: Open cuffs offer a little flexibility on how they sit, but we don’t recommend bending or forcing adjustment as it may stress the plating, distort the shape and affect the hallmarks. If you require a minor fit tweak, consult a competent jeweller; Hermès does not generally resize fashion‑metal cuffs.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a vintage Hermès horse bracelet?
A: Typical markings include the HERMÈS signature and “Made in France”. Depending on the era, some examples also carry a maker’s mark from the workshop (e.g., Ravinet d’Enfert) and, in certain collections, season or date codes. Placement varies (inner band or near the terminals). Our close‑up photos show any stamps present on this bracelet.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone finish?
A: Keep it dry and away from perfume, lotions, hand sanitiser and cleaning chemicals. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store it individually in a pouch/box, away from humidity and extreme heat, to preserve the finish over time.

Q: Can Hermès service or polish this bracelet?
A: Hermès boutiques may offer maintenance or repair services at their discretion for jewellery; availability varies by location and by piece. For vintage gilt‑metal cuffs, light professional cleaning and careful hand‑polishing are preferred over aggressive refinishing. Any alteration can affect originality and resale value—ask us for reputable specialists if needed.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is there any nickel?
A: Fashion‑metal alloys and platings may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider wearing the cuff over a sleeve, use a clear barrier product on contact points, and discontinue wear if irritation occurs. We’re happy to advise further.

Q: Is the Cheval/horse‑head design unisex and how can I style it?
A: Yes—this equestrian motif is timeless and works well for all genders. Wear it solo for a statement, or stack with slim bangles or a leather strap. As an open cuff, it sits neatly at the wrist and pairs well with tailored or casual looks.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This bracelet is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless stated otherwise. This listing includes a box; only accessories specifically shown or listed are included. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
