HermèsGarden Party 36 Tote Bag

Q: What typically fits inside this Hermès Garden Party 36 Tote Bag?
A: With listed measurements of approximately 50 x 25 x 17 cm, this is a roomy everyday tote. It should suit daily essentials such as a wallet, phone, pouch, water bottle, sunglasses, documents and a light extra layer. If you plan to carry a tablet or laptop, we recommend comparing its exact dimensions to the measurements shown on this page.

Q: Is this the PM version of the Garden Party?
A: Yes. This listing is identified as the Garden Party 36 with the model variant PM. As sizing references can vary slightly between sources and generations, the best guide is always the exact measurements provided in the product information for this specific item.

Q: Can this bag be carried on the shoulder?
A: It has dual rolled handles with an approximate handle drop of 15 cm. That means it is primarily suited to hand carry or carrying in the crook of the arm, although some customers may find it possible to wear briefly on the shoulder depending on build and clothing layers.

Q: Does this bag close fully at the top?
A: This piece features a snap closure. It offers quick access and light security, but it is not a full zip-top design, so smaller valuables are best kept in a pouch for extra organisation.

Q: What materials and details does this bag have?
A: According to the product information, this vintage piece is made in grey canvas with black leather trim, silver-tone hardware, dual rolled handles, a canvas lining and a snap closure. It has the understated, practical look the Garden Party line is known for.

Q: What is the condition of this specific bag?
A: The overall condition is listed as Very Good. There are scratches on the leather base, scratches on the interior base, and the hardware remains shiny with light surface scratches. As a vintage item, gentle signs of use are to be expected and form part of its character.

Q: Does this item come with any extras?
A: According to the product information, this piece comes with no additional items included. If anything is included with a product, it will be stated in the product information.

Q: Is the Garden Party 36 a good choice for work or travel?
A: Many buyers choose the Garden Party 36 style for work, errands and light travel because it is spacious, lightweight in canvas-based versions and easy to access. The trade-off is that the open tote structure with snap closure is less secure than a zipped travel bag, so it is best suited to organised everyday use rather than heavily packed travel days.

Q: How should I care for a vintage canvas and leather Garden Party bag?
A: To help preserve it, avoid overfilling the bag, protect it from prolonged moisture, direct sunlight and heat, and keep ink, cosmetics and rough surfaces away from the leather trim and lining. Wipe gently with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth when needed, and store it lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag so it keeps its shape.

Q: The serial number is illegible. Should I be concerned?
A: Not necessarily. On vintage Hermès pieces, stamps or serial details can fade with age and wear. Authentication should be based on the bag as a whole, including materials, construction, hardware and finishing details, rather than one marking alone. This listing notes the serial number as illegible, which is already reflected transparently in the product information.
