Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene Rivera MM Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 33 x 20 x 19 cm, this bag is well suited to daily essentials such as a long wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, a cosmetics pouch and a small tablet. Its structured shape gives it good depth, but it is not designed as a laptop bag. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for the most accurate guide.

Q: Can this bag be carried on the shoulder?
A: This model is designed primarily for hand or crook-of-arm carry. It has dual rolled handles with an approximate handle drop of 9.5 cm, and this specific piece does not include a strap.

Q: What materials and details does this bag have?
A: This piece is crafted from Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene coated canvas with brown leather trim, brass hardware, a red canvas lining and a top zip closure. The structured bowling-bag shape is one of the style’s signature features.

Q: Is the Rivera MM similar in size to a Speedy 30?
A: It is often compared with the Speedy 30 in terms of everyday capacity, but the Rivera MM has a more structured silhouette and a wider opening, which many collectors find easier to organise.

Q: What does the date code CA1098 mean?
A: In Louis Vuitton’s older date-code format, CA indicates production in Spain and 1098 indicates October 1998. A date code helps identify where and when the bag was made, but it should never be used as the only test of authenticity.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: No additional product information is included with this piece. Please refer to the Product Information section on this page for what is included with your purchase.

Q: What condition details should I note before buying?
A: This vintage bag is listed in very good condition overall. The exterior has scuffing on the piping and some minor marks, the interior has stains, and the hardware shows scratches and tarnish. The serial-number flap is also broken off and loose, which is reflected in the listing details.

Q: How should I care for Damier Ebene coated canvas?
A: Coated canvas is best cleaned gently with a soft damp cloth and a little mild soapy water if needed. Avoid perfume, oils, leather lotions, harsh cleaners and prolonged heat or humidity, and store the bag without overfilling it so it can better hold its shape.

Q: Is a loose or damaged date-code tab always a red flag?
A: Not necessarily. On older pre-owned Louis Vuitton pieces, date-code tabs can loosen, wear down or become harder to read over time. Authenticity should always be assessed through the overall quality of the materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and construction, not the code alone.
