Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Soho Backpack?
A: The Soho Backpack is a compact yet practical daily bag. With dimensions of approximately 24 cm wide, 30 cm high and 10 cm deep, it comfortably holds daily essentials such as a large smartphone, a continental wallet, a cosmetics pouch, keys and a compact umbrella. It can also accommodate a standard iPad or tablet, but due to its tapered shape and width, it is generally too small for laptops or large A4 binders.

Q: Is the strap adjustable and comfortable?
A: Yes, the bag features adjustable leather shoulder straps, allowing you to customise the length for a comfortable fit on the back. It also includes a top leather handle for carrying by hand or hooking onto a hook.

Q: How secure is the closure?
A: The main compartment is secured by a flap top with a gold-tone brass buckle closure. This traditional buckle design offers excellent security for your belongings while commuting, though it may take slightly longer to access than a zip or magnetic closure.

Q: What is the interior layout?
A: The interior is lined in a durable red textile fabric and typically features a single spacious main compartment with one open slip pocket for organising smaller items like a phone or cardholder.

Q: What is Damier Ebene canvas?
A: Damier Ebene is one of Louis Vuitton’s most iconic patterns, featuring a chequerboard design in two shades of brown. First introduced in 1888, it is crafted from coated canvas which is renowned for being lightweight, durable and water-resistant. This model pairs the canvas with smooth brown leather trim.

Q: How should I care for the canvas and leather?
A: Coated canvas is very low-maintenance; simply wipe it gently with a soft, damp cloth to remove surface dirt. Avoid harsh chemicals. For the leather straps and trim, we recommend sparing use of a neutral leather conditioner to maintain suppleness and prevent cracking over time. Store the bag upright and lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag to preserve its shape.

Q: Is this model still produced?
A: The Louis Vuitton Soho Backpack has been discontinued and is no longer available in boutiques, making it a sought-after piece on the vintage market. It is often celebrated for its distinctive, structured silhouette which sets it apart from the softer Montsouris backpacks.

Q: Where are the brand markings located?
A: Authentic Soho backpacks typically feature a “Louis Vuitton Paris Made in France” (or Spain/Italy) heat stamp on the internal leather tag or trim. A date code is usually found stamped on a small leather tab inside the interior pocket or along a seam, indicating the production date and location.
