Q: Is the Hampstead GM now discontinued?
A: Yes, the Hampstead line is widely considered discontinued. Pre‑loved pieces like this GM are sought after for their classic Damier Ebene aesthetic and practical tote shape.

Q: How large is this bag and what does it typically fit?
A: Approximate dimensions are 36 × 29 × 15 cm. It easily handles A4 documents, a daily organiser, a water bottle, and small pouches. It fits most 13‑inch laptops and many slim 15‑inch models; we recommend using a protective sleeve and checking your device’s measurements against the bag’s interior.

Q: Is the GM the largest Hampstead size?
A: Yes. Hampstead was produced in PM, MM, and GM; the GM is the largest and offers the most capacity with its structured base and expandable sides.

Q: How does the bag close and can the sides be adjusted?
A: The main opening secures with a central hook clasp. The side press‑studs let you expand for extra capacity or snap in for a more tapered silhouette.

Q: What does the interior look like on this specific piece?
A: It has red microfibre (Alcantara) lining with one zipped pocket and two slip pockets, providing tidy organisation for phone, keys, and small essentials.

Q: Are the shoulder straps adjustable and what is the drop?
A: Yes, each flat shoulder strap has buckle holes for adjustment. Typical drop range for the GM is around 20–30 cm depending on setting; this piece measures about 27 cm. Adjust to a longer drop for layering over coats.

Q: Does it come with a long cross‑body strap?
A: No. The Hampstead GM is designed as a shoulder tote with dual flat adjustable straps and does not include (or accept) a long cross‑body strap.

Q: How should I care for Damier Ebene canvas and the leather trim?
A: Wipe the coated canvas gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh chemicals or alcohol‑based cleaners. Keep away from direct heat and prolonged sun. The dark leather trim on Damier Ebene is treated and more resistant than natural vachetta; condition sparingly and store the bag stuffed, upright, in a breathable cover to maintain shape.

Q: Any tips for cleaning the red microfibre (Alcantara) lining?
A: Start dry: use a lint roller or soft brush to lift dust. For light marks, dab gently with a barely damp, light‑coloured cloth and mild soap, then blot dry. Always test on a hidden spot first and avoid soaking the fabric.

Q: Where is the date code and what if it’s hard to read?
A: On many Hampstead bags the date code is heat‑stamped on a small leather tab inside near a pocket. Over time codes can fade or become illegible, which is normal. Authenticity is assessed holistically—materials, stitching, hardware, stamps—by A Retro Tale’s specialists, and does not rely solely on the date code.

Q: What’s included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under product information on this page. If an item like a dust bag or padlock is not listed there, it is not included with this piece.
