CelinePony Hair Boogie Bag

Q: What are the measurements and what typically fits inside?
A: The bag measures approximately 32 × 19 × 13 cm with a handle drop of about 10 cm. It comfortably carries a long wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses in a case, a small cosmetics pouch, and a compact e‑reader or iPad mini. It is not designed for a 13‑inch laptop or A4 folder; packing with pouches helps maintain the bag’s structure.

Q: How is the interior organised?
A: The Boogie features a practical tri‑compartment layout with a central zipped section and an additional interior zip pocket. There are also two exterior side pockets for items you need to reach quickly.

Q: Does this style come with a shoulder strap?
A: No. The classic Boogie is a handheld top‑handle design with dual rolled leather handles and no shoulder strap attachment points.

Q: What exactly is “pony hair” on this bag?
A: Despite the name, pony hair is not from ponies. It is hair‑on leather, most commonly calf or cowhide, where the hair is left on for a tactile, patterned finish.

Q: Will the hair‑on leather shed or bald over time?
A: Some light, gradual shedding with use is normal, especially in high‑friction areas like corners or where the bag rubs against clothing. Minimise friction, avoid rough surfaces, and rotate usage to prolong the finish.

Q: Can I use the bag in the rain?
A: Hair‑on leather has some natural water resistance, but prolonged moisture can cause matting. If it gets wet, gently blot with a soft cloth and allow it to air‑dry away from direct heat. Brush only when fully dry and always in the direction of the hair.

Q: How do I clean and care for the pony hair panels?
A: Regularly dust with a very soft brush, moving with the grain. For light marks, use a barely damp, lint‑free cloth and dab—do not rub. Avoid oils, conditioners, alcohol‑based products, or stain repellents on the hair‑on surface. Keep adhesives and stickers away from the hair. Treat the smooth leather trim separately with a suitable leather conditioner, sparingly.

Q: Any tips for storage?
A: Store the bag loosely stuffed to support its shape, inside a breathable dust bag, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Avoid stacking heavy items on top and do not press the hair‑on panels against abrasive surfaces. Keep handles upright to reduce creasing.

Q: Is the Boogie considered vintage?
A: Yes. The Boogie is an early‑2000s Céline icon that was produced in many iterations, including leather and hair‑on versions. This piece is offered as a vintage item at A Retro Tale.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything that comes with the bag is listed in the product information section on this page. If an item (for example, a dust bag) is not listed there, it is not included—please contact us if you would like to confirm.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Each item at A Retro Tale undergoes a multi‑point inspection by our in‑house experts, reviewing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, and production markers. We stand behind the authenticity of every piece we sell and are happy to provide further details on request.
