Q: Why is it called the Chanel East West Chocolate Bar Bag?
A: Chocolate Bar refers to the square quilting, which resembles the segments of a chocolate bar, rather than the bag’s colour. East West describes its wide, horizontal shape. This particular bag is beige.

Q: What material is this bag made from?
A: It features beige quilted leather, gold-tone hardware and a single interwoven chain and leather strap. The interior has tonal leather lining. The specific leather type is not stated in the product information.

Q: What are the bag’s dimensions?
A: This bag measures 26 cm wide, 13 cm high and 4 cm deep, giving it a compact, slim profile.

Q: What can I fit inside this bag?
A: Based on its dimensions, it is best suited to a small selection of essentials, such as a phone, slim cardholder, keys and lipstick. Actual capacity depends on the size of your belongings, particularly your phone and its case. Avoid overfilling the bag to help preserve its shape.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: This model is listed as a shoulder bag and has a single interwoven chain and leather strap. The recorded strap measurement is 33 cm, but the product information does not specify whether this is the full length or the drop. Crossbody suitability is therefore not confirmed.

Q: What condition is this vintage bag in?
A: It is in very good condition overall. The exterior has minor wear and scuffing on the corners, while the interior shows light traces of use. The hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Please review the product photographs for a closer look at these details.

Q: How does the bag close, and does it have interior pockets?
A: It closes with a CC turn-lock fastening and has interior pockets within its tonal leather-lined interior. The number and type of pockets are not specified in the product information.

Q: Does this bag have a serial number, and what accessories are included?
A: The recorded serial number is 7935780, and the country of origin is listed as France. The product information lists a serial number but does not confirm a box, dust bag or authenticity card. Please check with A Retro Tale if any of these are important to your purchase.

Q: How should I care for and store this leather bag?
A: Gently wipe it with a soft cloth and avoid care products that could alter the leather’s finish. Keep it away from prolonged sunlight and moisture. If it gets wet, carefully blot it with an absorbent, non-pilling cloth. Store it upright in a protective pouch, with tissue paper covering the chain to help prevent marks.

Q: How can I help prevent colour transfer onto the beige leather?
A: Avoid prolonged contact or rubbing against dark-coloured clothing, particularly fabrics that may release dye. CHANEL recommends limiting contact between light and dark colours to minimise colour transfer. Avoid applying protective sprays or cleaners without first seeking advice on their suitability for this particular leather.
