Q: What are the dimensions of the Medium Bobby and what typically fits inside?
A: This Medium Bobby measures approximately 22 × 18 × 7 cm. It comfortably holds a large smartphone, compact wallet, sunglasses case, keys and small daily essentials. Many users also fit an iPad mini horizontally without a bulky case; thicker cases or overfilling may affect ease of closing. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions and pack accordingly.

Q: Can the bag be worn crossbody and on the shoulder?
A: Yes. The shoulder strap is both adjustable and detachable, so you can wear it crossbody or on the shoulder, or carry the bag by hand. Adjust the strap to suit your height and preferred drop for comfort.

Q: Does the back pocket fit a phone?
A: The Medium Bobby has a slim exterior back pocket designed for quick-access items. It fits cards, tickets and smaller phones; larger smartphones may fit without a thick case but can be snug. For security and to preserve the bag’s shape, avoid over-stuffing this pocket.

Q: How secure is the closure and will the magnet affect my cards?
A: The flap secures with a magnetic clasp concealed behind the decorative CD buckle for quick yet reliable closure. Magnets can, over prolonged direct contact, affect the magnetic stripes on some cards; EMV chip cards are not susceptible. Store stripe cards inside a wallet or an interior pocket away from the clasp as a precaution.

Q: What are the materials and finish like?
A: The bag is crafted from black calfskin leather with a soft suede interior and gold-tone metal details. The leather has a supple yet structured feel, while the hardware has a refined sheen. Hairline marks on metal and light creasing on leather can develop with normal use and are best minimised with mindful handling and storage.

Q: How should I care for calfskin leather and the suede lining?
A: Wipe the leather gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately; avoid harsh cleaners, oils and prolonged exposure to moisture or heat. For the suede lining, use a clean, dry suede brush to lift surface dust and avoid liquid cleaners. Store the bag loosely stuffed in its dust bag, strap detached, away from direct sunlight and colour-transfer risk.

Q: Is the strap interchangeable with other Dior straps?
A: Yes. The Medium Bobby’s removable strap attaches via metal loops, allowing you to swap to other Dior straps to change the look. If you plan to use a wider embroidered strap, ensure it clips securely and does not rub the leather at the edges.

Q: How does the Medium compare to other Bobby sizes?
A: The Medium sits between the Small and the Large in capacity. As a guide, the Small is around 18 cm across and the Large around 26 cm across, while the Medium is approximately 22 cm across—making it an excellent everyday size for essentials without bulk.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag and where would any Dior code be?
A: Every piece at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi-point authentication by our in-house experts, examining materials, stitching, stamps and hardware. Dior bags typically have an internal date code whose format and placement vary by model and era; if you’d like us to point out the code or provide additional photos, please contact us.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This piece comes with a detachable shoulder strap and a dust bag, as stated in the product information. If an item is not listed there, it is not included—feel free to ask us for confirmation.
