FendiLarge Ponyhair Peekaboo Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Fendi Large Ponyhair Peekaboo?
A: With approximate measurements of 32 × 40 × 12 cm, it comfortably carries daily essentials: large smartphone, continental wallet, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, earbuds and a small cosmetics pouch. A5 notebooks and A4 documents fit; a 500 ml bottle sits upright. Capacity can vary slightly by interior layout and the structured frame—please refer to our photos and Measurements for this exact piece.

Q: Will it fit a laptop or tablet?
A: A 13‑inch laptop typically fits; a 14‑inch often fits without a bulky sleeve but may be snug due to the framed opening and central partition. A 15‑inch can be possible depending on the device profile; share your device’s dimensions and we’ll happily perform a tailored fit check for this exact bag.

Q: Does it come with a strap and can I wear it crossbody?
A: Yes—this listing includes a detachable, adjustable shoulder strap (approx. 32 cm drop) and a top handle (approx. 12 cm drop). The strap is ideal for shoulder wear and a high crossbody on some frames; if you’d like guidance on how it sits on you, just ask and we’ll advise.

Q: How secure is the closure and what is the interior layout?
A: Peekaboo bags are known for dual turn‑lock closures and two main compartments divided by a stiff partition, typically with at least one internal zipped pocket. This exact piece has two compartments and one zip pocket, providing everyday organisation alongside the iconic framed silhouette.

Q: What exactly is “ponyhair” and is it real pony hair?
A: “Ponyhair” (also called hair‑on leather, haircalf or calf hair) is leather with the hair left on—commonly from calf/cowhide—finished and printed for the animal‑pattern look. It is not made from ponies. Variations in hair direction and pattern are part of its character.

Q: How should I care for the ponyhair and leather trim?
A: Keep the bag away from moisture, oils and prolonged friction. Dust or refresh the hair gently with a clean, soft brush, always in the natural direction of the hair (never back‑and‑forth). Avoid harsh cleaners or alcohol; if needed, spot‑blot with a soft, dry cloth. Store upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag, and avoid contact with abrasive fabrics (e.g., rough knits) to minimise premature wear.

Q: Is ponyhair waterproof? Can I use the rain cover?
A: Hair‑on leather is not waterproof; avoid heavy rain. This listing includes a rain cover (“defender/raincoat”) to help shield the bag in light showers. If the bag becomes lightly damp, blot (don’t rub) and allow to air‑dry away from heat. Do not saturate the material or use strong waterproofing sprays on the hair.

Q: Is the Large Peekaboo heavy to carry?
A: The framed, structured build and hardware give the Iconic Peekaboo a substantial feel compared with soft totes. Actual weight varies by material and season; if you’re weight‑sensitive, we can provide the exact scale weight for this specific item on request.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes located, and how do you authenticate?
A: Authentic Fendi bags typically feature an interior “FENDI Made in Italy” stamp and a production/serial code—often on the back of an interior leather logo tag or on a narrow leather tab near a seam; placement can vary by model and era. Newer pieces may include an RFID/microchip tag. Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, production codes/microchips and overall construction—we stand behind the authenticity of every piece we sell.

Q: Is the Peekaboo still produced, and where is this one made?
A: The Peekaboo—introduced in 2009—remains a core Fendi icon with ongoing variations (e.g., Iconic, ISeeU, X‑Lite, Soft). This vintage piece is labelled Made in Italy, and its classic framed design and dual‑compartment interior are signature features of the line.
