CartierTank Francaise 20mm Ref 2384 Mother-of-Pearl Dial Watch

Q: What is the Cartier Tank Française Ref. 2384 20mm?
A: It is a Swiss-made vintage ladies’ wristwatch with Cartier’s iconic Tank Française design. This example has a 20mm stainless steel case, a stainless steel bracelet with deployant clasp, a quartz movement, a rare pink mother-of-pearl dial, and a pink stone cabochon on the crown.

Q: Will the 20mm size suit my wrist?
A: The 20mm case gives this watch a refined, petite look that is especially well suited to slimmer wrists. According to the product information, the bracelet fits up to approximately 16cm and comes with extra links.

Q: Is the bracelet adjustable?
A: Yes. The bracelet can be adjusted by adding or removing links. This watch is noted in the product information as fitting up to a 16cm wrist with extra links included, so it may be possible to tailor the fit before shipping.

Q: Does this watch use a battery?
A: Yes. Ref. 2384 is a quartz model, so it is battery powered rather than manual or automatic. Cartier generally recommends battery service for quartz watches every two to three years, depending on use and the condition of the watch.

Q: Is it water resistant enough for everyday wear?
A: The product information lists the watch as water resistant, but with any vintage watch it is best to be cautious. We recommend treating it as suitable for light everyday contact only and avoiding swimming, showering, or submersion unless the watch has been professionally pressure tested very recently.

Q: Does it have a sapphire crystal?
A: Cartier Tank Française watches are commonly fitted with sapphire crystal, which is valued for its scratch resistance. It is still wise to avoid knocks, drops, and abrasive contact, especially with a vintage piece.

Q: Will the pink mother-of-pearl dial look exactly the same in all lighting?
A: Not exactly. Mother-of-pearl is a natural material, so its tone and iridescence can shift depending on the light and viewing angle. This is part of what makes each watch distinctive, particularly on rarer dial variants like this one.

Q: Can the bracelet be swapped for a leather strap?
A: Possibly, but not always easily. The Tank Française is known for its integrated bracelet design, so converting it to a strap may require model-specific parts and is not as straightforward as on a standard lugged watch. Many buyers choose to keep it on the original bracelet for the classic look.

Q: What is included with this watch?
A: Please refer to the product information for the exact contents. For this piece, the product information notes that it is delivered with a box and two extra links. The box has internal wear and the pillow is missing.

Q: Is the watch authentic, and do you offer a guarantee?
A: Yes. A Retro Tale states that all watches are 100% original and professionally authenticated. This watch also includes a 12-month mechanical guarantee and is shipped with fully insured DHL delivery.
