Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel CC Caviar Boston Bag?
A: With approximate measurements 34 × 24 × 15 cm, it comfortably holds A4 documents, an 11-inch tablet, a long wallet, sunglasses, a small cosmetics pouch and a compact umbrella. A slim 13-inch laptop may fit without a bulky sleeve, but please compare your device to the measurements and consider the curved zip opening.

Q: Can I wear it on the shoulder?
A: This model is designed to be carried by its dual leather-and-chain handles. On this specific piece the drop is approximately 27 cm, so most people can carry it by hand, in the crook of the arm, or on the shoulder. There is no long crossbody strap unless stated in the product information.

Q: What pockets and closure does it have?
A: It features a secure top zip closure, one external zip pocket for quick access, and a fabric-lined interior with one zipped pocket, making it practical for daily use.

Q: Is it vintage and what year is it from?
A: Yes, it is a vintage piece. The serial number 5629105 corresponds to Chanel’s 5‑series, indicating production around 1997–1999.

Q: Is the gold-tone hardware real gold plated?
A: Chanel used 24k gold-plated hardware on many bags produced before late 2008. Given the 5‑series serial, this piece may be from that era; however, we describe the hardware as gold‑tone and do not guarantee plating. Please refer to the detailed photos.

Q: How durable is Chanel caviar leather and how should I care for it?
A: Caviar leather is grained calfskin known for its textured, scratch‑resistant finish. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after use, avoid harsh cleaners or oils, keep away from prolonged sunlight and humidity, and allow any moisture to dry naturally. Store lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag and avoid contact with dark fabrics that may transfer colour.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information. For this piece, it includes a serial number tag. Items such as an authenticity card, dust bag or box are only included if explicitly stated there.

Q: Is it suitable for travel or as a carry-on/personal item?
A: Its compact bowler profile makes it an excellent day or office bag and it generally falls within typical airline personal‑item/cabin size guidelines. Policies vary, so please check your airline’s rules before flying.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this bag?
A: Every item is carefully vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and serial numbers. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide additional details on request.
