Q: What typically fits inside this tote?
A: With approximate dimensions 26.5 × 25 × 12 cm and a handle drop of about 25.5 cm, it comfortably carries daily essentials such as a long wallet, phone, keys, small cosmetics pouch, compact umbrella, and a small water bottle. An 11-inch tablet in a slim sleeve fits; A4 documents and a 13-inch laptop do not fit upright. To preserve the bag’s shape, avoid overfilling.

Q: Is the strap length suitable for shoulder carry?
A: Yes. The dual chain-and-leather straps have an approximate drop of 25.5 cm, allowing comfortable shoulder carry, including over light outerwear. The straps are not adjustable and the bag is not designed for crossbody wear.

Q: What is the closure and pocket layout?
A: This model has a zip-top closure for secure carry, one external front pocket for quick access, and a fabric-lined interior with additional pockets for organisation.

Q: Which devices will it fit?
A: An 11-inch tablet (approx. 24.8 cm height) fits; larger tablets like a 12.9-inch iPad Pro and most 13-inch laptops exceed the height/width and are not recommended. Slim e-readers and small notebooks fit easily.

Q: What does the serial number 17372585 indicate?
A: The eight-digit code beginning with 17 places production in the early 2010s (around 2012–2013). Serial codes help date a piece to a period, though they do not specify exact month or model.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is always listed under product information. For this piece, the product information notes the serial number. If an item such as a dust bag or card is not mentioned there, it is not included—please contact us if you’d like us to confirm specifics.

Q: Is this chevron quilting different from Chanel’s classic diamond quilting?
A: Yes. Chevron quilting forms V-shaped lines for a sleek, modern look, while the classic diamond quilting gives a more traditional Chanel aesthetic. Both are considered timeless; choice comes down to styling preference.

Q: How should I care for the leather and quilting?
A: Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth and avoid water or harsh cleaners. Do not overfill, and minimise prolonged contact between light and dark colours. For lambskin, minor surface marking can often be reduced by gently rubbing in small circles. For grained leathers like caviar, care is generally lower maintenance but still avoid abrasion and oils. Professional care is recommended for deep cleaning.

Q: How should I store the bag to prevent chain or imprint marks?
A: Store the bag upright in a breathable pouch, loosely stuffed to support its shape. Wrap the chains or straps in tissue and keep them separated from the leather to avoid impressions. Keep away from direct sunlight and humidity and rotate use to preserve the finish.

Q: How do you authenticate this Chanel bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in-house experts using multi-point checks of materials, stitching, quilting alignment, stamps, hardware, and serial numbers. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can share additional photos or details on request.
