Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Caviar Quilted Medallion Tote?
A: With approximate measurements of 30 × 25 × 15 cm, it comfortably carries daily essentials: a large smartphone, continental wallet, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, a small cosmetics pouch, A5 diary/notebook and a compact tablet (e.g., iPad mini/11-inch class if in a slim case). Capacity is helped by the structured silhouette; very bulky pouches may restrict the zip opening. If you’d like a tailored fit check for a specific item, just ask and we’ll test this exact piece.

Q: Will it fit A4 documents or a laptop?
A: A4 papers/folders (29.7 × 21 cm) generally fit flat. Slim 12-inch devices may fit without a thick sleeve; 13-inch laptops are typically too tight due to the curved zip opening and structured sides. Compare your device’s dimensions with our Measurements and we’ll gladly confirm the fit for this piece.

Q: Can I wear it on the shoulder?
A: The dual rolled handles have an approx. 15 cm drop. Many wearers find the Medallion Tote sits snug under the arm, so it’s most comfortable in hand or on the crook of the arm. It can be worn on the shoulder by some—especially over light layers—but it isn’t designed as a long‑drop shoulder or crossbody style.

Q: How secure is the closure and what is the interior layout?
A: It features a top zip closure with the signature Medallion zipper pull for everyday security. Inside, the black leather lining includes one zipped pocket and one slip pocket; there’s also a rear exterior slip pocket for quick‑access items. Our photos show the exact configuration of this piece.

Q: What is Chanel’s Caviar leather like, and how should I care for it?
A: Caviar is Chanel’s textured (pebbled) calfskin—admired for its durability and resistance to scratches compared with smooth lambskin. Keep the bag away from moisture and oils, be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim, and wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Condition smooth leather sparingly (test on a discreet area first). Store the bag upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag to help maintain its shape.

Q: Is this style discontinued? What era is a “6‑series” serial number?
A: The Medallion Tote is a discontinued Chanel classic, phased out in the early 2010s (commonly cited around 2012–2013). A serial number beginning with “6” (7‑digit) typically indicates production circa 2000–2002, placing this example in the early‑2000s vintage era.

Q: Where is this piece made?
A: This specific bag is labelled Made in Italy, which is consistent with many Medallion Tote productions.

Q: How heavy is the bag to carry?
A: The Medallion Tote is structured but not overly heavy for day‑to‑day use. If weight matters to you, we’re happy to provide an exact scale weight for this item on request.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: Included accessories for this listing are shown under “Accessories.” For this piece we list the internal serial number tag; an authenticity card or box is not included unless specifically mentioned there—feel free to ask us to confirm.

Q: Can Chanel repair or service vintage totes like the Medallion?
A: Chanel offers after‑sales care in boutiques subject to assessment and parts availability; services and eligibility vary by region and purchase era. Many clients also use trusted independent luxury leather specialists for cleaning and restoration. We’re happy to advise on typical options and help you prepare for a boutique assessment.
