Exact capacity depends on how you organise your belongings, so please refer to the Measurements on this page for the most accurate guide.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: This piece features a flat leather shoulder strap with an approximate drop of 48 cm. It is primarily a shoulder bag, but whether it also works crossbody will depend on your height and preferred fit.

Q: Is the tassel detail typical for vintage Chanel bags?
A: Yes. Tassel accents are a well-known feature on many vintage Chanel styles, especially camera and zip-top bags, and they are part of the charm that gives these pieces their distinctive vintage character.

Q: How old is this bag?
A: Based on the serial number series provided in the product information, this bag dates to approximately 1989 to 1991, making it a true vintage Chanel piece from the late 1980s to early 1990s.

Q: What accessories are included with this bag?
A: This item includes a dust bag, authenticity card and serial number tag. Everything included is listed in the product information; if an accessory is not listed there, it should not be assumed to be included.

Q: How do you authenticate a vintage Chanel bag like this?
A: Authentication should never rely on just one detail. For vintage Chanel, specialists typically assess the serial sticker or tag, authenticity card, leather quality, quilting, hardware, logo details, stitching and overall construction. At A Retro Tale, authenticity is backed by expert evaluation before sale.

Q: Does the authenticity card guarantee authenticity on its own?
A: No. An authenticity card is a helpful supporting detail, but it should always match the bag and be considered alongside the serial number and the bag’s overall craftsmanship and materials.

Q: What condition is this bag in?
A: The overall condition is rated Very Good. The exterior shows light traces of use with minor scratches in the leather, the interior has light traces of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches.

Q: Is this a good everyday vintage Chanel style?
A: Yes. Camera bags are often appreciated for their practical zip-top shape, hands-free wear and easy day-to-day functionality. This makes them a popular choice for collectors and buyers looking for a vintage Chanel bag that feels both stylish and usable.

Q: How should I care for this vintage leather bag?
A: Store it in its dust bag, keep it away from prolonged direct sunlight, moisture and heat, and avoid overfilling it so the shape is preserved. For routine care, gently wipe the leather with a soft dry cloth and handle the bag carefully to minimise further scratches or wear.
