Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel Patent Rock In Moscow Single Flap Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 26 x 14 x 6 cm, it is best suited to daily essentials such as a phone, card holder or compact wallet, keys, lipstick, and a few small personal items. It is a compact shoulder bag rather than a large carry-all, so bulkier items will reduce capacity.

Q: Is this a shoulder bag or a crossbody bag?
A: This piece is best suited to shoulder carry. The strap drop is approximately 24/41 cm, which gives some flexibility in how it sits, but it is not designed as a roomy hands-free crossbody on most wearers.

Q: What does “single flap” mean?
A: A single flap bag has one main flap closure rather than the double-flap construction seen on some other Chanel classics. Many collectors appreciate single flap styles because they tend to feel lighter, slightly easier to access, and a little more practical for everyday use.

Q: Is patent leather durable for regular use?
A: Patent leather has a glossy coated finish that can wear well, but it still needs thoughtful handling. It is generally less absorbent than untreated leather, yet it can show surface marks, rubbing, fingerprints and scratches more easily than some grained leathers. Dark patent bags, especially black, are often considered easier to live with than lighter patent shades.

Q: How should I care for this patent leather Chanel bag?
A: Wipe it gently with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth, avoid harsh cleaners, and keep it away from prolonged heat, strong sunlight and moisture. Store it upright when possible, lightly filled to help maintain its shape, and avoid pressing the glossy surface against rough or dark materials for long periods.

Q: Can patent leather develop colour transfer or discolouration over time?
A: Yes, this is one of the most common questions with patent Chanel bags. Patent leather can be prone to colour transfer, surface dulling and, in some cases, discolouration over time if exposed to friction, heat, sunlight or dyed fabrics. Black patent is usually the most forgiving option, but careful storage is still recommended.

Q: What does the serial number range tell me about the production period?
A: The serial number range on this bag indicates production from 2008 to 2009. For Chanel bags from this era, the serial sticker helps date the bag, but authentication should always consider the full item, including materials, construction, hardware, stamping and overall craftsmanship.

Q: What is included with this bag?
A: This item includes a serial number tag. Everything that comes with the bag is shown in the product information. If something such as a box, authenticity card or dust bag is not listed there, it should not be assumed to be included.

Q: What condition is the bag in?
A: The bag is listed in very good condition, with light traces of use externally and internally. The hardware is described as shiny with light scratches. As with all vintage and second-hand pieces, minor signs of age and wear are normal and form part of the bag’s character.

Q: How do you authenticate a pre-owned Chanel bag like this?
A: A proper authentication review considers the serial-era details, quilting alignment, hardware quality, logo and stamp details, stitching, lining, and overall craftsmanship rather than relying on one feature alone. At A Retro Tale, pre-owned luxury pieces are carefully vetted before sale.
