Louis VuittonEpi 17-inch Laptop Case

Q: What size laptops will this Louis Vuitton Epi Laptop Case fit?
A: The case is labelled 17-inch, but fit depends on your device’s footprint. The external Measurements shown are approx. 38 x 29 x 1.5 cm; interior clearance is slightly less due to seams and lining. Many 15–16-inch laptops (including the 16-inch MacBook Pro without a bulky case) typically fit; some slim-bezel 17-inch models may also fit, while older/larger 17-inch devices often do not. Compare your laptop’s dimensions with the Measurements or ask us for a tailored fit check for this exact piece.

Q: Is the case padded? How protective is it for daily use?
A: It’s a structured leather sleeve with a textile lining and minimal padding. It protects against light bumps and scratches in a briefcase or tote, but it isn’t designed for heavy impact. For frequent commuting or travel, we recommend adding a thin cushioned sleeve for extra shock protection inside.

Q: What else fits besides the laptop?
A: The profile is slim (about 1.5 cm depth). It typically accommodates the laptop plus flat items such as a few A4 documents, a slim notepad or a flat cable. Bulky power bricks, a mouse or thick organisers generally won’t fit comfortably—carry those separately.

Q: How secure is the closure and what’s the interior layout?
A: It features a zip-around closure for good everyday security. The interior is purposefully minimal with one main compartment (no extra pockets). Our listing photos show the exact layout of this piece.

Q: What is Epi leather and how durable is it?
A: Epi is Louis Vuitton’s textured, coated calf leather known for its resilience and subtle sheen. It’s more scratch- and scuff-resistant than many smooth leathers and offers some water resistance (not waterproof). With proper care, it wears beautifully over time.

Q: How should I care for the red Epi leather and gold-tone hardware?
A: Keep it away from moisture, oils and prolonged sunlight. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth; if conditioning, use a high-quality neutral product very sparingly and test on a discreet area first. Be mindful of colour transfer (e.g., from dark denim) and of placing the case on abrasive surfaces. Hardware may develop light hairline scratches with normal use—store in the dust bag when not in use.

Q: Could the zip scratch my laptop?
A: The zip is neatly finished, but to minimise contact we suggest inserting the laptop carefully (hinge side first) and/or using a thin sleeve or soft cloth around the device. Avoid overfilling so the zip doesn’t press against edges.

Q: Is this Epi laptop case still in production?
A: This specific Epi laptop case size is generally discontinued and can vary by year of release. The pre-loved market is the best way to find it in colours like this red.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes located, and how is dating handled?
A: You’ll find an interior heat stamp (e.g., “LOUIS VUITTON Paris” and the country of origin). Older pieces typically include a date code on a small leather tab or along an interior seam; more recent items may use an embedded microchip instead of a visible code. We’re happy to share close-up photos and help date this exact piece.

Q: What accessories are included and where is this one made?
A: Included items are listed under “Accessories.” For this piece, we note a dust bag. The interior stamp indicates Made in France—please see our photos for details. Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous multi-point authentication by our in-house experts, and we stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell.
