Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Epi Malesherbes Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 26 x 21.5 x 6 cm, this structured bag is best for daily essentials such as a phone, compact wallet, keys, sunglasses, lipstick, and a few small personal items. It is not designed for a laptop, larger tablet, or bulky pouch set.

Q: Can this bag be worn on the shoulder?
A: This particular piece is designed as a top-handle bag. It has a single rolled handle with an approximate drop of 13 cm, so it is best carried in the hand or in the crook of the arm rather than over the shoulder.

Q: Does the bag have a secure closure?
A: Yes. The Malesherbes features a structured front flap with a turn-lock closure, which helps keep your belongings secure while giving the bag its classic vintage Louis Vuitton look.

Q: Is there any interior organisation?
A: Yes. This bag has a tonal leather lining with one internal pocket, which is useful for keeping smaller essentials separate from the main compartment.

Q: Is Epi leather durable?
A: Yes. Epi leather is one of Louis Vuitton’s best-known textured leathers and is appreciated for its structured feel, durability, and relatively low-maintenance finish. As with any vintage leather bag, signs of age can still appear over time, especially on handles, corners, and areas of regular contact.

Q: How should I care for vintage Epi leather?
A: Gently wipe the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh cleaners, oils, perfumes, hand sanitiser, or heavy leather treatments. Store the bag in a breathable dust bag, away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity, and avoid overfilling it so the shape stays neat.

Q: What does the date code MI0954 mean?
A: This date code indicates production in France in May 1994. Louis Vuitton date codes help indicate when and where a bag was made, but they are not unique serial numbers and should not be used as the only basis for authentication.

Q: What condition should I expect from this specific bag?
A: The exterior is in very good condition with light traces of use and some fraying on the handle. The interior is in good condition with stains inside the pocket, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Please review all product images carefully for the best view of wear.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This bag comes with a dust bag. Everything included with the purchase is listed in the product information on this page.

Q: How is authenticity handled?
A: At A Retro Tale, pre-owned designer pieces are checked by in-house experts using details such as materials, construction, hardware, stamps, and date code format. The date code supports the review, but overall authentication is based on multiple points rather than one detail alone.
