Louis VuittonMonogram Alma PM Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Monogram Alma PM Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 32 x 24 x 15.5 cm, the Alma PM is a practical everyday size. It will usually fit a long wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, a small cosmetics pouch, and other daily essentials while keeping its structured shape. Please use the Measurements on this page as the best guide for exact fit.

Q: Is this bag designed to be carried by hand or on the shoulder?
A: This specific vintage Alma PM is primarily a handheld style with dual rolled handles and an approximate handle drop of 9 cm. No shoulder strap is included with this item, so it is best suited to hand or arm carry.

Q: How is the interior organised?
A: The bag is lined in brown canvas and has one internal pocket for smaller essentials. The rest of the interior is one main compartment, which makes it easy to organise everyday items.

Q: What is included with this bag?
A: This item includes a padlock. Everything included is listed in the product information section; if something is not listed there, it is not included with the bag.

Q: What does the date code FL1014 mean?
A: Louis Vuitton date codes indicate where and when a bag was made rather than serving as a unique serial number. FL denotes production in France. For a vintage Alma PM of this type, FL1014 is generally interpreted as November 2004.

Q: Is the Alma PM still considered a timeless style?
A: Yes. The Alma is one of Louis Vuitton’s most iconic structured handbags, first introduced in the 1930s, and the PM size remains a classic choice for everyday use.

Q: What should I expect from the Vachetta leather on a vintage Alma PM?
A: Natural Vachetta leather develops a deeper patina over time and can show watermarks and scuffing with age. On this piece, the leather has a visible patina, with watermarks and scuffing noted on the base and trim, which is consistent with a vintage bag that has been used and cared for over time.

Q: How should I care for the Monogram canvas and leather trim?
A: Avoid rain, damp environments, direct heat, and prolonged sunlight. If the bag gets lightly wet or dusty, gently blot or wipe it with a soft, light-coloured cloth, and avoid soap, solvents, or harsh cleaning products. When not in use, store it loosely filled in a breathable dust bag to help maintain its shape.

Q: Are there any notable interior signs of use?
A: The interior is in good condition with light traces of use, and a vintage smell is noted. If you are sensitive to age-related or storage scents, this is worth keeping in mind before purchase.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully vetted by in-house experts using checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, and date codes. The date code is one helpful detail, but authenticity is always assessed through the bag as a whole.
