Louis VuittonEpi Alma PM Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Alma PM?
A: With approximate measurements of 30 × 24 × 16 cm, it comfortably holds a long wallet, phone, keys, compact umbrella, sunglasses case, small water bottle, and a small tablet/ebook reader. It does not comfortably take A4 documents or a laptop due to the curved top and zipped opening; please refer to the Measurements and photos on this page for packing guidance.

Q: Is the Alma PM handheld only, or can I add a shoulder strap?
A: The Alma PM is designed to be carried by hand or in the crook of the arm via its rolled Toron handles. Many owners use a compatible Louis Vuitton shoulder strap (sold separately) that attaches to the handle hardware; shoulder wear is possible depending on strap length and personal preference. This listing does not include a strap—please see the product information for exactly what is included.

Q: What does the date code MI0957 mean?
A: For Louis Vuitton pieces made between 1990 and 2006, the first and third digits indicate the month and the second and fourth digits indicate the year. MI0957 therefore decodes to May 1997. The letters MI indicate manufacture in France.

Q: How durable is Epi leather and is it rain-friendly?
A: Epi leather is known for its structured feel and textured grain that is more scratch- and weather‑resistant than many smooth leathers. Light rain is generally fine, but it is not fully waterproof—wipe moisture promptly and avoid soaking or prolonged exposure to water and heat.

Q: How should I care for vintage Epi leather?
A: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp, light‑coloured cloth and let dry naturally. Avoid harsh cleaners, oils, alcohol/hand sanitiser, and direct sunlight or heat. Store loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag to help maintain shape and minimise creasing or colour change over time.

Q: Does the Alma PM have base feet and stand upright?
A: Most Alma PM models feature a structured base with four protective metal studs, helping the bag stand on its own and reducing wear on the bottom. Always check the photos of the specific item to confirm the base details.

Q: Will a tablet fit inside this size?
A: A slim tablet or e‑reader (for example up to around 10 inches, case‑dependent) typically fits together with daily essentials. Larger devices, thick cases, or wide notebook covers may be restricted by the dome shape and zip opening—please compare your device to the listed measurements.

Q: What is included with this listing?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information. This item is listed without additional items such as a padlock, keys, clochette, dust bag, or strap unless specifically stated there. If you need clarification, please contact us.

Q: What is the condition of this bag?
A: Very Good vintage condition with small marks on the leather trim, light scuffing on the corners, a clean interior with light signs of use, and shiny hardware showing light scratches. Please review all photos for the most accurate view of wear.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this item?
A: Our in‑house experts conduct multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, heat stamps, hardware, and date codes. Note that date codes alone are not a guarantee of authenticity, and Louis Vuitton transitioned from date codes to embedded microchips from 2021 onwards. We stand behind the authenticity of every item we sell and are happy to share further product information on request.
