Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel East West Chocolate Bar Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 26.5 x 13 x 4.5 cm, this slim East West shape is best suited to compact daily essentials such as a phone, cardholder, keys, lipstick and slim sunglasses. It is less suitable for bulkier purses, larger pouches or a tablet, so we recommend comparing your own essentials with the Measurements shown on this page.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: This model is designed primarily as a shoulder bag. With a strap drop of approximately 30 cm, it will usually sit neatly on the shoulder rather than crossbody for most adults.

Q: Why is it called the Chocolate Bar East West Bag?
A: Chocolate Bar refers to the square quilted pattern, which resembles segments of a chocolate bar. East West refers to the elongated silhouette, which is wider than it is tall.

Q: Is this bag vintage or discontinued?
A: Yes. This is a vintage Chanel piece, and the East West Chocolate Bar style is no longer part of Chanel’s current boutique line-up. The serial number on this bag is in the 6-series range, which places production at approximately 2000 to 2002.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: According to the product information, this piece comes with an authenticity card and a dust bag. Everything included with the bag is listed on this page.

Q: What condition is this bag in?
A: The exterior and interior are both listed as Very Good with light traces of use. The hardware is described as shiny with light scratches, and the overall condition is Very Good Condition.

Q: How should I care for a vintage Chanel bag like this?
A: We recommend storing it upright in its dust bag, lightly stuffed to help maintain its shape, and avoiding overfilling. Keep it away from prolonged sunlight, humidity and rough surfaces, and wipe it gently with a soft dry cloth. For deeper cleaning or stain treatment, a trusted specialist in vintage designer bags is the safest option.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Authentication should never depend on one detail alone. Alongside the serial sticker and the accompanying authenticity card, experts assess the construction, stitching, hardware, logo placement, lining and overall craftsmanship. At A Retro Tale, each item is vetted by our in-house experts before being listed for sale.

Q: Does the Made in France stamp matter?
A: This bag is labelled Made in France. Chanel vintage bags were produced in both France and Italy, so the country stamp is one useful detail, but it should always be considered together with the serial number, materials, hardware and overall workmanship when assessing authenticity.
