BalenciagaClassic First Multi Zip Suede Bag

Q: What size is this bag, and what typically fits inside?
A: This bag measures approximately 34 x 19 x 7 cm, so it is best suited to daily essentials rather than bulky items. It should comfortably fit a phone, small wallet, keys, sunglasses, a compact make-up pouch, and a slim book or small tablet-sized item, depending on how you pack it.

Q: Is the Balenciaga First smaller than the Classic City?
A: Yes. The First is the more compact, slimmer style in the Motorcycle family, while the City is roomier and deeper. If you prefer a lighter bag for essentials and day-to-evening use, the First is usually the better choice.

Q: Can this bag be carried by hand, on the shoulder, or crossbody?
A: This piece has dual rolled handles and a detachable shoulder strap, so it can be carried by hand or on the shoulder. With an approximately 24 cm strap drop, it will usually sit quite high, so it is generally better suited to shoulder carry than a relaxed crossbody fit.

Q: What material and details does this bag have?
A: This is a burgundy suede bag with silver-tone hardware, leather trim, black fabric lining, one internal zip pocket, and a top zip closure. It is made in Italy and has the signature Balenciaga Motorcycle look in a softer, more compact shape.

Q: What condition should I expect from this vintage item?
A: The overall condition is very good vintage condition. The suede shows darkening and rubbing, with wear on the corners and handles. The leather trim has visible cracking, the hardware remains shiny with light scratches, and there is a missing flap on one zip. Inside, there are only light traces of use.

Q: How should I care for a vintage suede Balenciaga bag?
A: Suede is a delicate finish and should be handled with extra care. Avoid rain, prolonged sunlight, and contact with light-coloured fabrics that may pick up colour. Use a soft dry cloth or a suede brush very gently, and for deeper cleaning or restoration, it is best to use a specialist rather than household cleaning products.

Q: Is this a practical everyday bag?
A: Yes, if you tend to carry just the essentials. The First is popular because it is lightweight, easy to style, and roomy enough for daily basics without feeling oversized, making it a strong choice for everyday use, lunch meetings, or evening wear.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This item includes a dust bag and a detachable shoulder strap. Everything included is listed in the product information, so if another item is not mentioned there, it is not included.

Q: How do you authenticate pre-owned Balenciaga bags?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully vetted by in-house experts. Authentication is based on a combination of material quality, construction, stitching, hardware, stamps, and other era-specific details, so you can shop with confidence.
