ChanelCC Pin Brooch

Q: Is this Chanel CC Pin Brooch authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid gold?
A: This vintage brooch is crafted from gold‑plated metal with a woven, textured finish. It is not solid gold. Chanel costume jewellery is renowned for its high‑quality gold plating (gilt). Please review the close‑up photos and features to see the texture and finish details.

Q: How big is the brooch and will it feel heavy?
A: The brooch measures approximately 5 cm (height) x 5.5 cm (width) x 1 cm (depth). This is a statement size that offers a significant presence. While not excessively heavy, it is best suited for structured fabrics like wool coats, blazers, or chunky knitwear rather than very delicate materials.

Q: How does it fasten? Is it secure?
A: It features a traditional pin‑back closure. We recommend securing it through a buttonhole or sturdy fabric. For extra security on looser weaves, you can add a small backing disc of felt or leather on the inside of the garment to stabilise the pin.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect on this piece?
A: Vintage Chanel brooches typically feature an oval plaque on the reverse stamped with “CHANEL,” the CC logo, “Made in France,” and a season/date code. This piece is confirmed as Made in France. Our listing photos show the specific hallmarks present on this item.

Q: Can I wear it on a scarf or a hat?
A: Yes, it is a versatile accessory. It works beautifully to secure a scarf or add flair to a hat band. However, due to the pin thickness, be cautious with fine silk scarves to avoid leaving visible holes; it is safer on cashmere, wool, or felt.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Vintage costume jewellery is made from base metals which may contain nickel. Since brooches are typically worn over clothing rather than directly against the skin, this is rarely an issue. If you plan to wear it near your neckline on bare skin, monitor for any reaction.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑plated finish?
A: To preserve the lustre, keep the brooch dry and avoid direct contact with perfume, hairspray, and cosmetics. Wipe it gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth after use. Store it in its box to prevent scratches and protect it from humidity.

Q: What condition is it in and what is included?
A: This brooch is in Very Good Condition, which means it may show slight signs of wear consistent with its vintage nature but remains in excellent shape. This specific listing includes the original box. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for full details.
