Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Jumbo Vertical Quilted Single Flap?
A: With dimensions of approximately 22 × 30 × 9 cm, it generally accommodates a large smartphone (including many Pro/Max models, though very bulky cases can be snug), a continental wallet, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, a cosmetics pouch, and an A5 diary/notebook. The single‑flap structure offers more usable capacity than double‑flap designs. Please compare your items to the Measurements shown or ask us for a tailored fit check for this exact piece.

Q: Will it fit a tablet or laptop?
A: Slim tablets such as the iPad Air or 11‑inch iPad Pro typically fit. Larger iPads and 13‑inch laptops are generally too big due to the 22 cm height and flap clearance. For certainty, compare your device’s dimensions with the Measurements listed or contact us to test fit against this bag.

Q: Is the chain strap adjustable? Can I wear it crossbody?
A: The strap is not adjustable but can be worn doubled or as a single chain. For this bag, the single drop is about 60 cm and the doubled drop about 33 cm. It can be worn on the shoulder or as a high crossbody for many wearers. If you’d like us to confirm how it sits on your height, just ask.

Q: How secure is the closure and what pockets does it have?
A: It features a CC turn‑lock on a single flap for everyday security. The interior includes a zip pocket and a slip pocket, and there’s a back exterior patch pocket for quick‑access items. For valuables while commuting, we recommend using the interior zip pocket and keeping the bag upright.

Q: What is “vertical quilted” leather and how should I care for it?
A: Vertical quilting refers to the stitched channel pattern running up/down the leather, giving a refined, elongated look. Care tips: keep the bag away from moisture and oils, be mindful of colour transfer (e.g., dark denim), wipe with a soft, dry cloth, and condition smooth leather sparingly with a neutral product (test first on a hidden area). Store it lightly stuffed, upright, in a breathable dust bag, and tuck the chain inside with a piece of felt to prevent imprints on the flap. Avoid overfilling to preserve the structure and flap alignment.

Q: Is the hardware 24K gold‑plated on this vintage?
A: Many mid‑1990s Chanel bags featured 24K gold‑plated hardware, though not all. Our listing notes gold‑tone hardware for this piece; we can check plating specifics and provide close‑ups on request. Light hairline scratches are normal for vintage hardware and are noted in the condition report.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes located, and how is this piece dated?
A: Authentic Chanel bags have interior brand stamps (e.g., “CHANEL” and “Made in France” or “Made in Italy”). Vintage pieces carry a hologram serial sticker and an authenticity card. This bag is Made in France and bears a 3‑series serial (c. 1994–1996). The sticker is typically found along an interior seam or pocket; we’re happy to share detailed photos and help with dating.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, serial sticker/card, and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional photos or details on request.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This piece is delivered with serial tag, authenticity card, booklet and dust bag. If an accessory isn’t mentioned under “Accessories,” it isn’t included—feel free to contact us for confirmation.

Q: Is the Jumbo Single Flap still produced, and how does it compare to the Double Flap?
A: Many single‑flap variants (including vertical‑quilted styles) are discontinued, so availability is mainly through the pre‑loved market. Compared with the Classic Double Flap, single‑flap bags are typically lighter and offer slightly more usable capacity because there’s no inner flap, while the Double Flap provides an extra layer and pockets under the flap.

Q: Can Chanel repair or service this vintage bag?
A: Chanel boutiques may offer repairs subject to assessment and parts availability (e.g., hardware, chain, some leather work). Costs and lead times vary by region and by model. Independent luxury leather specialists can also clean, condition, and perform sympathetic restoration. We’re happy to advise on typical options and help you prepare for a boutique or specialist assessment.
