Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Classic Mini Rectangular Single Flap?
A: With approximate dimensions of 20 × 12 × 6 cm, it’s ideal for essentials: a large smartphone (including most Pro/Max models placed horizontally), a compact wallet or cardholder, keys, lipstick, AirPods and slim sunglasses in a soft case. Continental (full‑length) wallets and small tablets generally do not fit comfortably. Refer to the Measurements shown here or ask us for a tailored fit check for this exact piece.

Q: Can I wear it crossbody, and is the chain strap adjustable?
A: Yes—this Mini Rectangular is popular for crossbody wear. The interwoven chain‑and‑leather strap is not adjustable, but you can shorten the drop by looping the chain inside the bag. For this specific piece the strap drop is approximately 55 cm; on taller frames or over bulky coats it may sit a little high when worn crossbody.

Q: How secure is the closure and what is the interior layout?
A: It’s a single flap with the iconic CC turn‑lock for good everyday security. Inside you’ll find a main compartment with an interior zip pocket and a small slip pocket; there’s also an exterior back slip pocket for quick‑access items. Our listing photos show the exact configuration of this vintage piece.

Q: Single flap vs. double flap—what’s the difference?
A: Mini Rectangular models are single‑flap, which typically gives a touch more usable space and a lighter carry than double‑flap Classics. The trade‑off is slightly less compartmental separation compared to larger double‑flap sizes.

Q: Will an iPhone Pro/Max fit?
A: Most Pro/Max smartphones fit when placed horizontally without a bulky case. Very thick or rugged cases may be too tight. If you’d like, we can perform a quick fit test—just tell us your phone model and case thickness.

Q: What’s the strap drop on Chanel Mini Rectangular bags? Has it varied by year?
A: Typical Mini Rectangular strap drops range roughly 53–58 cm depending on era and production. Some recent years show slight variations by country of origin. This specific bag has an approximate 55 cm drop and is labelled Made in Italy.

Q: How should I care for lambskin leather and the silver‑tone hardware?
A: Lambskin is luxuriously soft and can show scratches and pressure marks more readily than textured leathers. Keep it away from moisture and colour‑transfer risks (e.g., dark denim), and wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Condition sparingly with a high‑quality neutral product after testing on a discreet area. Store the bag upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag, and place a soft cloth between the chain and the leather to prevent imprints. Hardware naturally shows light hairline scratches with use—minimise contact with abrasive surfaces and pad the chain during storage.

Q: Is the Mini Rectangular part of Chanel’s current line?
A: Chanel releases Mini Classic Flaps seasonally with variations in materials and colours; availability can differ by collection and boutique. The pre‑loved market is the best way to find specific configurations like this vintage lambskin version.

Q: Where are brand markings and codes found, and how is dating handled?
A: Chanel bags feature interior brand stamps and a country‑of‑origin mark (typically “Made in France” or “Made in Italy”). Older and vintage models include a hologram serial sticker (and originally an authenticity card); from around 2021, Chanel transitioned to an embedded microchip on a small interior plate instead of a card. Placement and format vary by era—contact us if you’d like close‑up photos for this item.

Q: Is the hardware 24‑carat gold‑plated?
A: This specific piece has silver‑tone hardware. For reference, many vintage Chanel bags produced before late 2008 featured 24K gold‑plated hardware; after that, Chanel moved to gold‑tone finishes without precious plating. Silver‑tone hardware across eras is not gold‑plated.

Q: What accessories are included and how do you authenticate?
A: For this listing we include: box, dust bag, brand booklet and serial number tag (see “Accessories”). If an accessory isn’t mentioned there, it isn’t included. Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, serial sticker/microchip and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of every piece we sell.
