Q: What typically fits inside this Small Flap Cannage bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 31 × 18 × 12 cm, it comfortably holds a long continental wallet, smartphone, keys, a compact umbrella, sunglasses, a small cosmetics pouch and travel essentials. A slim 500 ml bottle can fit laid horizontally. Capacity varies by how you pack—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Can I wear it crossbody or is it strictly a shoulder bag?
A: This model is designed for shoulder carry. The single strap has an approximate 25 cm drop, which generally sits best on the shoulder; on most frames it will be short for true crossbody wear. If you prefer crossbody, consider using an extender from a specialist or another Dior strap with compatible hardware and length.

Q: How do I care for black patent leather and prevent colour transfer?
A: Patent leather has a lacquered finish that can pick up dye from dark denim and other fabrics. Avoid prolonged contact with new or dark clothing, store in a cool, dry place, and wipe after use with a soft, slightly damp cloth. For routine care and to remove fingerprints, use a patent‑specific cleaner; for stubborn dye transfer, consult a professional rather than using alcohol or household solvents. Store stuffed in a breathable dust bag, away from heat and humidity.

Q: The strap shows minor cracking—will it worsen and can it be repaired?
A: Small edge‑paint or surface cracks on patent straps can progress if the area flexes repeatedly. Minimise overloading and avoid bending the strap sharply. A professional leather atelier can stabilise cracks and re‑edge strap sides; timely treatment helps prevent further splitting and improves comfort and appearance.

Q: What does the Cannage motif signify?
A: Cannage is Dior’s signature quilt pattern, inspired by the cane webbing of Napoleon III chairs used in the original couture salons. It is a house code seen across many Dior bags, including flap and Lady Dior styles—the geometric lines emphasise structure and craftsmanship.

Q: How should I clean the surface without dulling the shine?
A: Gently remove dust with a soft microfibre cloth, then apply a patent‑leather cleaner formulated to cleanse and nourish the coated finish while maintaining gloss. Avoid acetone, alcohol, or abrasive products, which can cloud or crack the lacquer. Allow to air‑dry away from direct heat and sunlight.

Q: Does this item include a dust bag, card or lock?
A: Everything that comes with the bag is listed under product information. For this piece, the product information notes a clochette and key. If an item (such as a dust bag or authenticity card) is not listed there, it is not included.

Q: Does Dior use serial numbers, and where would I find identifying codes?
A: Modern Dior bags typically feature an internal date code (not a unique serial number) stamped on the back of the interior leather tag or on a small tab inside a pocket. The alphanumeric code indicates factory and time of production but, on its own, is not proof of authenticity. Our team authenticates each item using a multi‑point inspection of materials, stitching, stamps and hardware.

Q: There is a slight vintage smell—how can I reduce it safely?
A: Air the bag in a cool, dry room away from sunlight with the flap open. Place odour‑absorbing sachets (activated charcoal or baking‑soda packets) inside for 24–48 hours, repeating as needed. Avoid spraying perfume or using harsh deodorisers on the lining or leather. For persistent odours, a professional interior clean is recommended.

Q: How secure is the push‑lock flap closure for daily use?
A: The push‑lock is designed for quick, one‑handed access. To close, align the clasp and press until it clicks; to open, press the release. It keeps the flap securely fastened during day‑to‑day wear while protecting the interior from casual access.
