Q: What is the Hermès 140 Cotton Silk Scarf?
A: It’s an oversized square Hermès scarf crafted in a breathable cotton–silk blend, designed for versatile styling as a wrap, shawl, sarong or generous neck scarf. Specific details (print, edge finish and production year) vary—please refer to our photos for this exact piece.

Q: What are the dimensions and how does “140” compare to other Hermès scarves?
A: “140” typically refers to approximately 140 x 140 cm (about 55 x 55 inches), significantly larger than the classic 90 cm carré. The extra size makes it ideal for shoulder wraps, belting, and beach cover‑ups while remaining light and comfortable.

Q: What does the cotton–silk blend feel like?
A: It has a soft hand with a slightly matte look, draping fluidly without the slippery feel of pure silk. It’s lighter than cashmere/silk shawls and suitable across seasons, especially spring–summer layering.

Q: How can I style and tie it?
A: Wear it as a shawl over the shoulders, knotted at the front, belted at the waist, as a headscarf, sarong/pareo, or folded into a large neck scarf. It’s unisex and complements dresses, tailoring and denim. For more ideas, search for Hermès scarf tying guides for 140‑cm formats.

Q: How should I care for a cotton–silk Hermès scarf?
A: Always follow the care label. Hermès generally recommends professional dry cleaning for printed silks. If your label permits gentle hand washing, use cool water and silk‑safe detergent, avoid soaking or wringing, roll in a towel to remove excess water and dry flat out of direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry or use bleach; store flat or lightly folded in a dust bag/box away from humidity.

Q: Will the colours bleed or fade?
A: Hermès prints are high quality, but dyes can transfer with moisture, friction or oils. Keep the scarf away from rain, perfumes, sunscreen and prolonged sunlight. If it gets wet, blot gently and allow to dry flat—do not rub.

Q: Are the hems hand‑rolled on this size?
A: Edge finishes can vary by model and season. Many Hermès scarves feature hand‑rolled hems that roll towards the front of the print; some cotton–silk 140s may have flatter or stitched edges. Please review our close‑up photos to see the exact hem on this piece.

Q: How is authenticity verified and are there serial numbers?
A: Hermès scarves usually feature “Hermès Paris” within the print, an artist’s signature, and a care/composition label with country of origin (often Made in France). Scarves do not have serial numbers like handbags. A Retro Tale authenticates every item through rigorous multi‑point checks of materials, print quality, stitching and labels; no single detail is conclusive on its own.

Q: Does this pre‑owned scarf come with the original box or accessories?
A: Inclusions vary for vintage and second‑hand pieces. Please check the Accessories section and photos on this listing for exactly what’s included. If a box, dust bag or ribbon isn’t shown or mentioned, it is not included.

Q: Can Hermès repair or refresh a scarf (e.g., stains or edge issues)?
A: Printed silk repairs are limited. Some Hermès boutiques may advise on care options; otherwise consult a reputable specialist experienced with luxury silk for cleaning or minor edge work. Services, availability and fees vary by location.
