Q: What typically fits inside the Picotin 18?
A: It suits everyday essentials such as a smartphone, compact wallet or cardholder, keys, sunglasses, and small items like lip balm or hand sanitiser. A slim long wallet may fit but can limit how much you can cinch the opening; a 500 ml water bottle is a snug fit and may reduce space for other items. Capacity varies by how you pack—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Is the Picotin 18 handheld only?
A: Yes. The Picotin is designed with short dual handles for hand carry or the crook of the arm. It does not have rings for a shoulder or crossbody strap.

Q: How secure is the opening on a Picotin?
A: The bag has an open top with a leather strap that cinches across the opening. Many versions are designed to be secured with a padlock; security is moderate compared with zip‑top bags. Keep the strap cinched and place valuables in a small pouch if you prefer more privacy.

Q: Is the interior lined, and does it have base feet?
A: The Picotin is unlined, showing the suede side of the leather inside, and it typically features a structured base with four protective metal feet to help it stand and reduce wear.

Q: What is Taurillon Clémence leather like?
A: Taurillon Clémence is a pebbled bullcalf leather with a soft hand and pronounced grain. It is durable and resists light surface scratches but is a touch heavier and more relaxed in structure than some other Hermès leathers, so it tends to develop a supple, slightly slouchy look over time.

Q: How should I care for Clémence leather day to day?
A: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after use and avoid harsh cleaners or oils. Do not over‑condition, as this can soften the leather further. If it gets wet, blot gently and allow it to air dry away from heat; water can leave marks on some leathers. Store the bag lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag to help it keep its shape.

Q: Can Hermès service or refresh this bag?
A: Yes. Hermès offers maintenance and repair services (often called the Hermès Spa) that can clean, re‑dye and address wear, subject to assessment and fees. Visit an Hermès boutique to discuss available options for your specific piece.

Q: Is this model the Picotin Lock, and is a padlock included?
A: The design is commonly known as the Picotin Lock because the strap can be secured with a padlock. Whether a padlock or other items are included with this pre‑owned piece is stated in the product information for this listing.

Q: Picotin 18 or 22—which should I choose?
A: The 18 is the most popular size for carrying the essentials with a neat, lightweight feel. The 22 offers more room for extras such as a tablet or small water bottle but reads larger on the arm. Choose based on how much you carry and how compact you prefer your bag to look.

Q: Any tips to help the bag keep its shape?
A: Use a lightweight, well‑fitted organiser or pouch to group items, avoid overloading the bag, and rotate carry. Ensure any insert is colourfast and does not imprint on the unlined interior.
