Louis VuittonDamier Saleya PM Bag

Q: What are the measurements and what typically fits inside the Saleya PM?
A: The approximate measurements of this item are H 24 × W 26 × D 14 cm with a handle drop of about 16 cm. It comfortably holds a long wallet, phone, keys, small cosmetics pouch, an A5 diary or book, a compact tablet (such as an iPad mini), and a 500 ml water bottle. It is not designed to fit A4 documents or a 13-inch laptop. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for the exact dimensions of this specific bag.

Q: Can it be worn on the shoulder?
A: The Saleya PM is primarily a hand or crook‑of‑arm tote. With a handle drop around 16 cm, some may perch it on the shoulder over light layers for short periods, but it is not intended as a true shoulder bag. If you prefer longer shoulder carry, consider larger sizes or styles designed for shoulder wear.

Q: Is the Saleya PM still produced by Louis Vuitton?
A: The Saleya line was introduced in the mid‑2000s and is now discontinued. It is available on the pre‑loved market rather than in current Louis Vuitton boutiques.

Q: What materials and interior does this model have?
A: This Saleya PM is crafted in Damier Ebene coated canvas with dark brown leather trim and gold‑tone hardware. The interior is lined in red Alcantara with two slip pockets, and the bag secures with a top zip closure.

Q: How should I care for Damier Ebene canvas and the leather trim?
A: Wipe the coated canvas with a soft, damp cloth and a little mild soapy water if needed; avoid alcohol‑based products, harsh chemicals and leather conditioners on the canvas. Keep the bag away from prolonged direct sunlight or heat, and store it loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag to maintain its shape. The dark brown leather trim is treated and generally more resistant to water spots than untreated vachetta, but it should still be kept away from oils and colour transfer from dark fabrics.

Q: Where is the date code on a Saleya PM, and what if it is illegible?
A: On this style the date code is usually stamped on a leather tab inside the bag or directly onto the Alcantara lining. Over time, codes on microsuede linings can fade, so illegible or missing codes are not uncommon on vintage pieces. Louis Vuitton uses date codes rather than unique serial numbers; the presence or absence of a code is not proof of authenticity. Each item at A Retro Tale is authenticated by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware and stamps. For this specific item, the Product Information notes the code is illegible.

Q: Does this model come with a detachable strap, lock or other extras?
A: The Saleya PM is designed without a detachable shoulder strap. Inclusions vary by individual piece. Please check the Product Information on this page for everything that is included with this item; for this piece, the Product Information indicates no additional items are included.

Q: How does the Saleya PM compare to the Neverfull PM for everyday use?
A: Both are compact totes suitable for daily essentials. The Saleya offers a zipped top and a more structured silhouette for added security, while the Neverfull PM is an open‑top tote with longer, shoulder‑friendly straps. Choose the Saleya if you prioritise a zip closure and hand carry; choose the Neverfull PM if you prefer shoulder carry and an open tote.

Q: What signs of wear are typical on this style over time?
A: With normal use, light scuffing at the corners of the canvas, fine scratches to the hardware and minor marks to the lining can occur. The coated canvas and treated leather are durable, but avoid alcohol‑based sanitisers and rough surfaces to help preserve the finish. Always store the bag properly to keep its shape and colour.
