Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Monogram Sologne?
A: With approximate dimensions of 26 × 18 × 8 cm, it comfortably carries daily essentials: a large smartphone, compact wallet or cardholder, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, passport and a small cosmetics pouch. An A5 diary fits; an iPad mini may fit horizontally without a bulky case, but larger tablets and A4 documents generally do not. For exact capacity, please refer to the Measurements on this page or ask us for a tailored fit check for this specific piece.

Q: Is the strap adjustable and suitable for crossbody wear?
A: Yes—this model features a single adjustable crossbody strap. The listed strap drop for this exact piece is approximately 51 cm, and it can be shortened or lengthened via the buckle for shoulder or crossbody carry. If you’d like a precise on‑body measurement, just ask and we’ll advise based on your height and preferred fit.

Q: How secure is the closure and what pockets does it have?
A: The Sologne has a flap top with a belt‑style buckle closure for everyday security. Typical layouts include one interior pocket and at least one exterior pocket (commonly a rear patch pocket); some editions also have a slim pocket under the flap. Details can vary slightly by production year, so please review our photos for the exact configuration of this piece.

Q: Is the Sologne still produced?
A: The Sologne is generally discontinued and now found on the pre‑loved market. Availability is best through trusted resale platforms and vintage specialists like A Retro Tale.

Q: What materials is it made from and how should I care for them?
A: This bag is crafted from Louis Vuitton’s durable Monogram coated canvas with natural Vachetta leather trim and gold‑tone hardware. Keep Vachetta away from moisture and dark fabrics (to avoid colour transfer); it will develop a honey‑gold patina over time. Wipe canvas gently with a soft, dry cloth; condition smooth leather sparingly only after testing on a discreet area. Store stuffed, upright, in a breathable dust bag, and avoid prolonged strap pressure on the leather.

Q: Will rain or spills mark the Vachetta leather?
A: Vachetta is largely untreated and can show watermarks and uneven darkening. If it gets lightly wet, blot (don’t rub) with a soft cloth and allow to air‑dry away from heat. Consider using a high‑quality protector only if you’ve patch‑tested first, as some sprays may alter the colour.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes, and what does “SL0014” mean?
A: Authentic LV bags feature an interior heat‑stamp (e.g., “LOUIS VUITTON Paris” and country of origin). Pre‑2021 bags have a date code: for 1990–2006 codes, the 1st and 3rd digits denote the month and the 2nd and 4th digits the year. “SL0014” decodes to January 2004, and “SL” indicates a French factory—consistent with this piece’s Made in France label. From around 2021, LV transitioned from visible date codes to embedded microchips.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, date code/microchip and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can share additional photos or details on request.

Q: What condition is this specific vintage piece in?
A: Overall Very Good condition with light traces of use externally and internally. The hardware shows scratches and tarnish consistent with careful vintage wear. Please review the detailed photos and condition notes on this page for a closer look.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This listing includes a dust bag. If an accessory isn’t mentioned under “Accessories,” it isn’t included—feel free to contact us for confirmation.
