Q: What typically fits inside the Trouville?
A: With approximate dimensions of 28 × 20 × 11 cm, it comfortably holds a smartphone, long wallet, keys, sunglasses, a small cosmetics pouch and travel essentials like a passport. An A5 notebook or a small tablet (e.g., iPad mini) may fit depending on the case. Full‑size tablets, A4 documents or laptops will not fit. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Can the Trouville be worn on the shoulder or crossbody?
A: The classic Trouville is designed as a handheld, top‑handle bag. It does not come with a factory shoulder strap or dedicated strap D‑rings. Some owners attach third‑party straps to the handles, but this may stress the hardware and is not recommended for heavy loads.

Q: Is the Murakami Multicolore Trouville still in production?
A: No. Takashi Murakami’s Multicolore line launched in 2003 and was discontinued in 2015. Multicolore pieces like this Trouville are now considered vintage and are available only on the pre‑owned market.

Q: How does the Trouville compare to the Deauville?
A: Both share a structured, vanity‑style silhouette with an exterior front pocket. The Deauville is larger and was conceived as a travel/beauty case; the Trouville is the more compact, everyday version that’s easier to carry and organise for daily essentials.

Q: Is colour transfer a concern on the white Multicolore canvas?
A: Yes, while the coated canvas is durable, the light background can pick up dye from dark denim and other richly dyed fabrics. Wipe the canvas with a soft, slightly damp cloth, avoid alcohol‑based products or harsh cleaners, and store it away from items that may rub off colour.

Q: How should I care for the vachetta leather on the handles and trim?
A: Vachetta is an untreated, vegetable‑tanned leather that naturally develops a honey patina. Avoid water, oils and prolonged sunlight to minimise spots and uneven darkening. Handle with clean, dry hands and store in a breathable dust bag. Light surface dirt can be gently wiped with a soft, barely damp cloth; avoid harsh chemicals and over‑conditioning.

Q: How do I clean the red Alcantara lining?
A: Use a lint roller or a soft brush to lift dust and crumbs. For light marks, dab—not rub—with a soft cloth slightly moistened in water with a small amount of neutral soap, then allow to air dry. Do not saturate the lining and avoid solvents or alcohol‑based cleaners.

Q: Where is the date code and what does it mean?
A: Trouville bags have a date code indicating production location and date. On Alcantara‑lined versions, it is often stamped directly into the lining along a seam or on a small leather tab inside a pocket. Over time these stamps can fade and may be hard to read; date codes are not unique serial numbers and are only one element of authentication.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the Accessories section. For this specific piece it states no accessories. If a lock, keys, dust bag or strap isn’t listed there, it is not included.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and date codes by our in‑house experts. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide additional photos or details on request.
