Q: What are the dimensions and overall look of this brooch?
A: It measures approximately 3.5 × 3.5 cm and features a four‑leaf clover silhouette in gold‑tone metal with multi‑coloured heart‑shaped stones and a central rhinestone. It secures with a traditional pin‑back closure. Please see the Measurements and images for scale.

Q: Is this an authentic Saint Laurent piece?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously authenticated by our in‑house experts. Vintage Saint Laurent jewellery commonly carries a maker’s signature stamp (such as stacked YSL lettering or era‑appropriate branding), and we check hallmarks, construction, stones and hardware as part of our multi‑point process. Extra hallmark photos are available on request.

Q: Which era is it from?
A: It is sold as a vintage piece. Saint Laurent’s costume jewellery was produced from the 1970s onward and is known for bold, colourful designs including statement brooches; without original paperwork we do not assign an exact year. We can help with additional dating insights from stamps and construction on request.

Q: How secure is the pin‑back and how should I fasten it?
A: The brooch uses a hinged pin with a rotating safety catch. To fasten, guide the pin through the fabric, close it into the catch and rotate the safety to lock. Avoid forcing the pin through tightly woven or very delicate materials; instead, use thicker areas like lapels or seams and support the fabric with your fingers as you pin.

Q: Which fabrics are best for wearing brooches?
A: Brooches sit best on structured fabrics such as wool, tweed, denim and heavier knits. For delicate fabrics like silk, chiffon or fine cashmere, pin through a seam or consider using a discreet backing or a magnetic brooch converter to prevent pulls and stretching. Avoid repeated pinning in the same spot on fragile weaves.

Q: Will the pin leave holes or marks?
A: Any pin may leave a small hole, especially on delicate weaves. To minimise marks, pin through thicker areas, vary placement between wears, and consider a fabric‑safe backing or magnetic converter for very fine materials. Always remove the brooch before storing the garment.

Q: How should I clean and care for the rhinestones and gold‑tone finish?
A: Gently wipe with a soft, dry, lint‑free cloth after wear. Keep away from water, perfumes, lotions and household cleaners, as moisture and chemicals can dull plating and may affect foil‑backed rhinestones. Never soak the piece; if needed, use a barely damp cotton bud on metal only, keeping liquid away from the stone backs. Store separately in a dry place to avoid scratches and premature wear.

Q: Are the stones secure and original?
A: The brooch is graded Very Good with light traces of use. Our team checks stone security and settings; any missing or replaced stones would be disclosed. To preserve the settings, avoid knocks, tugging on the stones or exposing the piece to moisture or ultrasonic cleaners.

Q: How can I style this clover brooch?
A: Pin it to a blazer lapel, knit jumper, coat collar or beret; gather a scarf or sash; accent a dress waist or a handbag strap; or cluster with other brooches for a statement look. A brooch‑to‑pendant converter can also let you wear it on a chain for added versatility.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This listing is for the brooch only; no accessories are included. Everything included is always listed under Accessories on this page.
