Q: What are these earrings made from and what hallmarks should I expect?
A: They are crafted in sterling silver (925). Most authentic Tiffany sterling silver pieces carry Tiffany & Co. and 925 hallmarks, though placement can vary by design and era.

Q: Do the heart padlocks open or do the keys function?
A: No. On this design the heart padlock motif and the small dangling key are decorative elements only; they are not intended to open or unlock.

Q: Are they for pierced ears and how do they fasten?
A: Yes. They have a post-back closure for pierced ears. Ensure the backs sit snugly against the earlobe for a secure fit.

Q: What size are they and how will they sit on the ear?
A: Approximately 2 cm high by 1.5 cm wide with about 1.5 cm depth. They wear as a petite drop, with gentle movement from the key charm.

Q: Are the key charms removable?
A: No. The key charms are fixed to the earrings and are not designed to be detached.

Q: Are these part of Tiffany’s modern Lock collection?
A: No. They use Tiffany’s classic padlock-and-key motif, but they are not from the contemporary Lock collection that features a functional swivel clasp mechanism.

Q: How should I care for sterling silver earrings to minimise tarnish?
A: Clean with mild soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly, then use a quality silver polishing cloth or Tiffany silver cleaner. Avoid contact with chlorine, bleach, perfumes and hairspray, and store them dry in a soft pouch when not worn.

Q: I have sensitive ears—will sterling silver be suitable for me?
A: Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver alloyed with a small proportion of other metals, typically copper. Many people with nickel sensitivity tolerate sterling silver, but individual reactions can vary. If you are highly sensitive, introduce wear gradually and consult a dermatologist if irritation occurs.

Q: What accessories are included with this pair?
A: This item includes an A Retro Tale authenticity certificate. Unless specifically listed otherwise on this page, original brand packaging or extra accessories are not included.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate these earrings?
