Q: What is this Versace Medusa Rhinestone Chain Necklace made from?
A: Versace fashion jewellery is typically crafted from metal alloys with a gold‑tone galvanic plating and set with glass or crystal rhinestones. Contemporary Versace jewellery is described as lead‑ and nickel‑free and hypoallergenic; compositions can vary by era, so vintage pieces may differ slightly.

Q: Is it real gold or gold‑plated?
A: This is gold‑tone plated fashion jewellery rather than solid gold. The plating gives the rich gold look while keeping the piece lightweight and wearable for everyday styling.

Q: How long is the chain and where will it sit on the neck?
A: The chain measures approximately 49 cm (about 19.3 inches). On most wearers this sits around the collarbone as a classic mid‑length necklace. It fastens with a lobster clasp; length is generally fixed, though you may clip to a nearby link for a very small adjustment or add an extender if you prefer extra drop.

Q: Is this necklace unisex?
A: Yes. The Medusa motif and Greca‑style chain are signature Versace elements that suit a wide range of styles and can be worn by any gender, either solo or layered with other chains.

Q: Will the gold‑tone finish tarnish or wear over time?
A: As with all plated jewellery, the finish can show wear with friction, moisture, and exposure to chemicals. To prolong its life, avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, hair products, and household cleaners; remove before exercising, showering, or swimming; and store it separately in its box when not in use.

Q: How should I clean the rhinestones and metal safely?
A: Start with a soft, dry, lint‑free cloth to remove fingerprints and oils. If needed, use a barely damp cloth with a little mild soap to spot‑clean around the settings, keeping moisture away from the backs of stones. Do not soak the necklace or use abrasive cloths, alcohol, or harsh cleaners. Dry thoroughly and store in a cool, dry place.

Q: Are the rhinestones secure? What if one becomes loose?
A: Vintage rhinestones are generally secure when handled with care, but age and adhesives can make settings more delicate. Avoid knocks and snagging. If a stone loosens, a jeweller experienced with costume jewellery can re‑set or replace it; contact us for advice before attempting any DIY repairs.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin or nickel allergies?
A: Versace states that its fashion jewellery is lead‑ and nickel‑free and made with hypoallergenic materials. Because this is a vintage piece and sensitivities vary, we suggest a short initial wear test and keeping the necklace clean and dry to minimise irritation.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This necklace comes with a box. Everything included is listed under the Accessories section on this page; if an item isn’t listed, it is not included.

Q: How do you authenticate this piece?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, construction, engravings, and hallmarking consistent with period Versace pieces. Modern Versace jewellery often includes NFC or digital authentication features; vintage pieces like this may not, but we guarantee authenticity and stand behind every item we sell.
