Q: What typically fits inside the Bottega Veneta Small The Shoulder Pouch?
A: With approximate measurements of 38 × 17 × 11 cm, it’s ideal for curated daily essentials: a large smartphone (including most Pro/Max models), a compact wallet or cardholder, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, AirPods, and a small cosmetics pouch. Compact e‑readers or mini tablets may fit without bulky cases. A 500 ml water bottle is generally too tall to sit upright and may distort the silhouette if placed horizontally. If you’d like a tailored fit check for a specific item, just ask and we’ll test this exact piece.

Q: Is the handle adjustable? Can I wear it crossbody?
A: The Small Shoulder Pouch has a single, non‑adjustable shoulder handle with an approximate 15 cm drop on this piece. It’s designed for under‑arm shoulder carry and handheld/crook‑of‑arm wear; it does not include a crossbody strap.

Q: How secure is the closure and what is the interior like?
A: It features a concealed magnetic frame closure that snaps shut for quick, everyday security. Inside, there’s one main compartment lined in black leather, with no interior dividers—perfect for a streamlined carry. For commuting, we recommend using a small zip pouch for valuables.

Q: Will the magnetic closure affect my credit cards or electronics?
A: Modern EMV‑chip cards and phones aren’t typically affected by everyday handbag magnets. Older magnetic‑stripe cards can be vulnerable if the stripe is kept in repeated, close contact with a magnet. As a precaution, store cards in a wallet and keep them a little distance from the frame.

Q: What is “Butter Calf” leather and how does it wear?
A: Butter calf is a smooth, supple calfskin with a soft hand and gentle sheen, chosen to create the Pouch’s signature cloud‑like drape. As a smooth leather it can show fine surface marks and creases with wear; with mindful use it develops a refined patina over time.

Q: How should I care for this smooth calf leather?
A: Keep the bag away from heavy rain, oils and prolonged sunlight, and be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim. Wipe occasionally with a soft, dry cloth; if you choose to condition, use a high‑quality neutral leather cream very sparingly and test first on a discreet area. Store it upright, lightly stuffed, in its dust bag, and avoid prolonged hanging to preserve the silhouette.

Q: Is the Small The Shoulder Pouch still produced?
A: Availability of specific sizes and leathers varies by season. Many configurations are now most readily found on the pre‑loved market; if you’re seeking a particular colour or finish, we’re happy to help source or suggest comparable current styles.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes located?
A: Authentic Bottega Veneta bags typically feature an interior “BOTTEGA VENETA – MADE IN ITALY” heat‑stamp. Many pieces also include a discreet fabric “Originality Certified” tag with a serial/production code sewn into a lining seam or pocket. Placement and format vary by era—contact us for close‑ups of this exact piece.

Q: What is the condition of this specific bag and what accessories are included?
A: This item is in Very Good condition with light traces of use; the hardware is shiny with light scratches, and both exterior and interior are clean with minor wear. It comes with a dust bag as listed under Accessories. If an accessory isn’t mentioned there, it isn’t included—feel free to ask us to confirm.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and serial/production codes, and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of every piece we sell.
