Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Choco Bar Chocolate Tote Bag?
A: With approximate dimensions of 30 x 23 x 10 cm, this tote is well suited to daily essentials such as a phone, long wallet, keys, sunglasses, a small cosmetics pouch and a slim notebook or e-reader. It is a practical day bag, but it is not likely to suit most laptops or bulky A4 files. Capacity can vary depending on how you pack, so please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Can it be worn comfortably on the shoulder?
A: Yes. This tote is designed with dual chain-and-leather shoulder straps, and the strap drop is approximately 26 cm. For most people, that allows comfortable shoulder carry, although the fit can vary slightly depending on clothing and build.

Q: What makes the Choco Bar design distinctive?
A: The Choco Bar line is recognised for its square quilted pattern, which gives it a more graphic early-2000s Chanel look than the classic diamond quilting. In black leather with gold-tone hardware, this version has a polished vintage feel that is especially appealing to collectors of older Chanel styles.

Q: How old is this bag?
A: This bag has a 7-series serial number, which dates it to approximately 2002-2003. That places it firmly in Chanel's vintage early-2000s period.

Q: What condition is this bag in?
A: It is listed in Very Good condition. The exterior shows scuffing on the corners, the interior has light traces of use with scratches and stains on the leather, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Please review the product images for the clearest visual impression of its current condition.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This item includes the box and serial number, as noted in the product information. If another item is not listed there, it should not be assumed to be included.

Q: How should I care for a vintage Chanel leather tote?
A: To preserve the bag, avoid overfilling it, keep it away from prolonged sunlight and moisture, and wipe it gently with a soft cloth. Store it upright in its pouch or box with the straps protected to help maintain its shape and hardware. For deeper cleaning, recolouring or structural work, it is best to use a trusted luxury leather specialist.

Q: Can corner scuffing be repaired?
A: Light corner wear is common on vintage Chanel totes and can sometimes be improved by a professional leather spa or through a Chanel care consultation, depending on the leather and age of the piece. As this bag already has corner scuffing, gentle handling and careful storage will help prevent further wear.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is checked by experts using serial details, construction, materials, stitching and hardware. We stand behind the authenticity of the pieces we sell and are happy to provide further product information on request.
