ChanelClassic Medium Double Flap Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Classic Medium Double Flap?
A: Everyday essentials such as a large smartphone, compact wallet or card holder, keys, a slim sunglasses sleeve, and a few small cosmetics. The double flap and gusseted interior reduce usable space compared with exterior dimensions (approx. 25.5 × 15.5 × 6.5 cm), so packing smaller, flatter items gives the best result.

Q: Will it fit large smartphones (Plus/Max sizes)?
A: Yes, large smartphones fit comfortably when placed horizontally inside the main compartment. For long-term care, avoid storing a phone in the rear slip pocket to prevent stretching of the leather.

Q: Can I wear it crossbody?
A: It can be worn on the shoulder with the chain doubled or single. The single-chain drop is approximately 43 cm and the doubled drop about 23 cm; on most heights the bag sits relatively high when worn crossbody. Those with a shorter torso may find crossbody comfortable, but it is primarily designed as a shoulder bag.

Q: What is the benefit of the double flap?
A: The inner flap adds structure and security, helping the outer flap keep its shape over time and providing extra coverage for the contents. The trade-off is a little extra weight and slightly less interior capacity versus single-flap styles.

Q: What year is a Chanel serial number beginning with 25 (e.g., 2580XXXX)?
A: A 25-series serial number corresponds to production around 2018–2019. This aligns with the period before Chanel phased in microchips (from 2021 onwards) in place of authenticity cards.

Q: Is caviar leather durable and how should I care for it?
A: Caviar (grained calfskin) is prized for its structured feel and higher scratch resistance compared with lambskin. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wear, keep it away from moisture and oils, and store lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag. To avoid chain imprints, place the chain in protective fabric and do not overfill the bag.

Q: How much does the Medium Double Flap typically weigh?
A: Approx. 560–650 g depending on leather and hardware. The double flap adds a touch of weight but remains comfortable for day-to-evening use when not overpacked.

Q: Will a long continental wallet or small tablet fit?
A: A compact wallet is recommended. Most long continental wallets and small tablets (e.g., many mini-tablets in cases) are generally too tall or rigid to fit comfortably under the double flap without stressing the structure.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This listing includes a serial number tag. Unless specifically listed under Accessories, items such as an authenticity card, dust bag or box are not included—please check the Accessories section on this page for the exact contents.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this bag?
A: Every piece is meticulously inspected by our in-house experts, who verify materials, quilting and stitching, stamps, serial details, hardware, and interior construction. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide additional information on request.
