Q: What are the measurements and how does it wear?
A: This Small Classic Double Flap measures approximately 23 × 15 × 7 cm. The chain can be worn doubled or single, with an approximate drop of 25 cm (doubled) or 45 cm (single). It sits comfortably on the shoulder and as a high crossbody on many frames.

Q: What typically fits inside the Small Classic Double Flap?
A: Think compact essentials: a standard-size smartphone (without a bulky case), cardholder or small wallet, keys, a lipstick and a few small extras. The second (inner) flap adds structure but slightly reduces capacity, so slim items pack best.

Q: Can I wear this bag crossbody?
A: Yes, on the single chain. On most people it will sit higher on the torso than a dedicated crossbody bag. Many prefer it as a shoulder bag, while petite frames often find the crossbody drop comfortable for day-to-evening wear.

Q: What does “double flap” mean and how is the interior organised?
A: The bag has an outer flap with the CC turn-lock and an inner flap that helps the bag keep its shape. Under the inner flap is a small zipped pocket; beneath it is a slim slip pocket. The main compartment includes two open pockets and a lipstick slot. There is also an exterior back slip pocket best suited to flat items like tickets or receipts.

Q: What does the serial number 1242458 indicate?
A: This is a 1‑series Chanel code, dating the bag to approximately 1989–1991. That aligns with the vintage classification and the Made in France stamp on this piece.

Q: Is the hardware real gold-plated on this vintage bag?
A: Many Chanel flaps produced before late 2008 featured 24‑carat gold‑plated hardware. As a 1‑series vintage piece, hardware from this era is typically gold-plated; we describe the hardware as gold‑tone and recommend reviewing the photos for finish and patina typical of vintage use.

Q: How should I care for the lambskin leather?
A: Keep the bag away from prolonged light, heat and humidity. If it gets damp, blot gently with a non‑pilling cloth. To reduce the look of light marks on lambskin, gently rub in small circular motions with a clean, soft cloth. Store it upright in a breathable dust bag with the chain wrapped to avoid imprints, and minimise contact with dark denim to reduce colour transfer.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This bag comes with its authenticity card and serial number tag. Unless listed, a box or dust bag is not included. Everything supplied is always stated in the Accessories section of the product page.

Q: Is the Small size practical for daily use?
A: It’s ideal for refined day‑to‑evening essentials. If you carry larger items (e.g., a full‑size wallet or hard sunglasses case) consider the Medium Classic Flap. To preserve the shape of vintage lambskin, avoid overfilling and rotate use when possible.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is examined by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, stamps, hardware, and date codes. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional photos or details on request.
